Even though I got very very little done this past week, I decided to post this to keep me going. I actually started this on 8/31 for the HAED BB new start SAL. The portable (hang around your neck) magnilight I bought to take with me wasn't that bad but it isn't great and it was nuts trying to do confetti on 28 ct white lugana - tent stitching. Worked a little bit last night and plan to spend this week on it before moving on to something else. (Maybe I couldn't stitch in Florida because I didn't have help?) like Laverne slowly trying to push my chart off the table. Little by little she pushes it with her back when she thinks I'm not looking.
Eventually settles down even when I don't let her get on top of the piece. Sorry I couldn't get a pic of what was almost gymnastic as she tried to maneuver herself to sit on the cross stitch in the stand.
And how far (not much) I have gotten. There is so much confetti in the horns and ears. Looks like a bit more blocks of color (comparatively speaking) ahead. My backs on HAEDs aren't great, but this one is looking really ridiculous. (no photos)

Ha ha isn't it funny what stitching HAED does to the backs? On my other projects the back looks as good as the front. On my Peacock... It looks like a nest! Mmmhhh maybe because the peacock is actually a bird?
It's great that you can see one of your giraffes taking shape already and with relatively few stitches too.....in HAED terms that is!

Actually, Carole is the one who tempted me to start this one. And I'm so glad she did because I absolutely love working on it! Maybe if I get a lot done on my Nursery Rhymes this week I'll reward myself with some stitches on this.

I love this piece. Been stitching away until another piece finally started yelling at me, so I completed the section (sort of) that I was working on and have reluctantly put it away. A mix of confetti (lots of single stitches) and then small blocks of a color. Stitching pages 1 and 2 since the giraffe's middle is column 90. I do that a lot with all my pieces but never to such an extent. Also tricky given the routine I now have with my feline assistant. Skip to the bottom pic if you want to forgo Laverne's routine on a daily basis.
As soon as I get everything set up she appears from somewhere
When told to move, she does (sort of) with a big old plop on the table
I do some serious rearranging and some pouting happens

and of course she is forgiven. I am such a sucker. (This photo is really from the next day because it is a better pic. But it is a routine now)

Nice progress on the giraffes...they really look like like a lot of fun and a lot of work. And I love the pictures of Laverne and am glad you shared. For those of us with pets (or kids ), working around them is half the process, right? She's adorable.

Beautiful stitching! And what is it with cats and stitching?? They seem as obsessed with it as we humans are!! I've tried to get a picture of my stitching buddy but since it's my lap she sits on, pics are kind of hard to get.

Aw it's looking great! And I think Laverne has been talking to my Emma, because now when I stitch on the couch she has to be right in the middle of my lap, even though she rarely wants attention at other times.
And now I want to stitch on the giraffes myself!
