Hello!!

Post by flumpz »

Hello everyone!

I'm an ex-cross stitcher looking to get back into it & I'm hoping you guys can help me out & give me some hints, tips & advice!!

One of the main things that has put me off cross stitch is the tendency for charts to be in colour these days - I REALLY hate colour charts but I have a box full of beautiful un-made kits that are begging to be stitched!! I like b&w charts as they can be photocopied & the stitches highlighted as they are worked but this system doesn't work with the colour charts & I found myself making so many errors I drifted away from it.

Anyway - I'm off to check out the rest of the site now!!

Byeee!

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I have to admit I don't like some types of colour charts either.
The ones that have colour AND symbols or are just black and white are great, but it's those that are just blocks of colour that are my pet hate.
I'm pretty sure though that once you get started on a project again you won't be able to stop, it's so addicting.
Have fun here and hopefully you'll soon be posting up a WIP thread for us to follow you along in the SAL section.

Welcome. We are so happy that you are re-addicting. I mean that you are getting back into cross stitching. :D

We will do all we can to encourage and prod you into showing us some of your work. I bet we will have you back in the saddle in no time. I will agree the color only chart are a hugee pain in the behind. I have only had one and I used my PC Pro to rework the chart. It worked well.

Thanks everyone!

I must say what an encouraging & friendly bunch you are!

I am sure it won't take too much prodding to get me going again!! (Or to get to the magical 10 posts necessary for gallery access!!!)

I've decided to ease myself in with an old medium sized kit I have with a b&w chart but I have ordered myself some plastic bags off ebay as I have a new thread sorting system in mind that might help me cope with the dreaded colour charts!!

Right - off to battle some spiders in search of my stash of kits!! eek!!

Welcome from the West of Scotland. Your battling spiders in hopes of liberating your stash is working... they are all here now! Quivering in corners. (No, of course not me! the spiders!)

Right - having braved the spiders & retrieved my stash I am now all set to start on my Lazy Daisy Kitten kit...and so it begins!

Thank you all for your welcoming words! I may even start a SAL thread if I can figure out the photo bit!

It's only a small project to start with but I'm hoping it's going to kick-start my x-stitch passion - especially as I have ordered 2 new kits - Dimension Gold ones at that - off ebay!

Check out Heaven and Earth Designs... The one I'm currently working on is one from them... And although I chickened out and am doing a lower count instead of working it over fabric... It's Gigantic.

Litterally 50 colours and 2 x 3 feet to stitch, every box filled...

In my opinion, if you're up for a challange, then HAED is the place to find one.

Amazing!!!

One day's stitching & it's all coming back to me!!

The staying up late as 'just until I get to the end of this this thread/colour' takes you into the early hours of the morning.

The sore, tired eyes

Unwanted interruptions such as meals, loo breaks, work, family, broken hard drives that need fixing (happened to me yesterday & I had to dismantle the thing to get it working but at least it's OK now) etc meaning you lose valuable stitching time...

Sigh...

It's soooo good to be back into this!!!

Today won't be as intense as yesterday which I had almost all to myself & was wonderful! I doubt I'll get any stitching done until thins evening but I'm gonna try to sneak some in at Mum's after church this morning!

I'm going to try digging my camera out too and do a SAL/WIP thread - this is a very encouraging & inspiring site - thank you all so much!!!
