Sheehs, we're still in january and I'm back in here again already??
I was attempting some fancy knifework in the kitchen last night while prepping dinner and the very very sharp knife got away from me and tried to slice a finger off. Luckily it just got the back of my knuckle but for a moment there when I saw how much it was bleeding I went pale for a bit and had to sit down and mutter quite a few panicky oaths thinking this might be an emergency room type of situation. Fortunately after a bit of hydrogen peroxide (OUCH!) and bandaids, and the assistance of a glove so I could frinish prepping my dinner (which got altered quite a bit to an easier recipe that actually turned out better than the original plan I think) it stopped bleeding and suprisingly doesn't hurt that much unless I try to use the finger in any way or bump it into anything. Also.. luckily it's on my right hand and I'm mostly left handed. Stitching 2 handed for more than a few minutes is out though, since I have to bend my index finger to grasp the needle and that puts pressure against it.
At this point I'm more frustrated than in pain.. I think it was a deep/large enough cut that it'll take a little while to heal.. and it's going to drive me nuts in the meanwhile. It totally threw off my plan for first thing this morning which was to color my hair bright red. I don't think being short one finger (even wearing gloves, I am trying not to use the finger) would help in getting the dye on evenly.. nor was I quite up to the task of washing the red dye out of my hair so shortly after seeing it bleeding like I did last night - red dye tends to have results that look like a TV crime drama murder scene.. it's too soon for that! So.. less stitching (or slower atleast) and roots for a few more days. It could have been worse!
Oooooo. That hurts just to think about. Sounds like one of those cuts that probably should have had stitches, but I don't blame you for not wanting to visit the ER. Stick around here for a while and let us take care of you. Put your feet up and enjoy a hot toddy. And heal quickly.

Oh, but I had the oven already preheated, the fish thawed, and I was in the middle of prepping the stuff to go with it when that happened. Ended up shoving stuff into the food processer instead - kale, garlic, spicy mustard, olive oil, and lemon juice pulsed together and smeared over the piece of fish and baked turned out pretty good! I did skip over any sides though - ate the fish with a piece of sour dough to sop up the extra faked out pesto (no nuts, no cheese, not pesto!) If it had turned out bad after that.. oh I would have been really mad. And I was too hungry to wait for pizza.. I was being careless because I was in a hurry to get my dinner done. Good food is a priority around here!
The sad part? When I went hunting for bandaids, the only ones I had were hello kitty ones. Mind you, I have no kids or anything. This was my own bandaid stash. I must have gotten free samples of them sent to me in the mail or something. So I'm sitting here sporting too small pink twee bandaids. I really gotta go buy some more.

Is this the point at which I should admit that I only buy kids' band-aids? Hello Kitty, Despicable Me, Muppets, Disney...the list goes on. I can't even remember the last time I bought "grown up" band-aids. (Oh, and no kids here, either.)

Well I think its time for me to invest in a needle minder! I was swapping between colours last night and stuck 2 needles in my pj trouser leg, woke up this morning and felt something stabbing my leg... I had totally forgotten about the needles!

Ouch!! Fizzbw has some fantastic needle minders...maybe you can write them off as preventive medical care. (I just ordered more of hers...I think I'm set for awhile now. I really like having a couple on each project.)

I'll put in a good word for Niki (Fizzbw)too. Her needle minders are so pretty and the magnets are really strong. I had tried others before but these really work.

I hope all of you have recovered by now - but then I am going to sit here alone…
Got a nasty cold, that has been going on for three weeks now. Basically the new year started with some really bad headaches, for about two weeks, then the cold burst out, and since I could not stay at home and cure it, it became really persistent.
Paracetamol and chamomile does not help, any suggestions?

Perhaps something stronger like ibuprofen (Advil in the US and ,according to Google, Alindrin in Sweden.) Unless you are talking about migraine type headaches and I think you need prescription medicine for those.
You don't have to sit alone here, unless you want the peace and quiet so you can rest comfortably. Visiting hours are whenever you want them to be, so let us know and we are just waiting to give you all the TLC you want.

I'll keep you company!! I've got a sore heel...hurts when I walk on it!
You can help me sort out my threads for my next project...I have a couple planned so we can have fun sifting through the floss!! Nothing too taxing for a sore head.
& at the ready and I've got some crystallized ginger....I find that helps with a bad headache and the log fire is lit. We'll be fine!
SOunds great, Wendy! I have just baked some cookies.
Have no energy to clean up after the baking though. Need to sit down and rest first. Thread sorting is going to be perfect.

No need to clean up. I'm sure that can be done quickly by the ever attending staff. You won't even notice while its being done. Enjoy the cookies and have a hot cup of . If my Grandma was around the tea would have some honey in it as well.

Just a short visit for me hopefully Had check at eye hospital today as last July it was found at opticians I had burst blood vessel in left eye. Had to have bp & bloods done. BP up but we'd just moved, only round the corner but most tiring we've every had. Anyway not affecting vision but had eye tests to make sure all OK. They test me every few months for a year. All OK today. Drops make eyes sore so no sewing tonight. Can't read a book but came on here to see what everyone's doing. Small bit of blockage still there but nothing untoward. A back handed compliment given to me, my sight is very good for my age It seems once you get to three score & ten more things can go wrong than they did when you reach 60! My GP did warn me
Hope anyone who is really under the weather today will feel much better tomorrow.
Feeling a bit anxious this evening. Been feeling tired and breathless so had loads of bloods done yesterday. GP ringing me tomorrow to let me know the results. I think with my history it's the blood test for 'tumour markers' that is a bit scary!
