Oh I'm so glad Shirley is okish! Big hugs to you both!!!

I know exactly how much of a worry it is and how vital they are to your life.

Oh goodness Shirley seems to have her share of issues. We had one like that and seemed to be at the vet about once a week. Not really that much but it sure seemed like it.

I'm so glad to hear that the vet can treat Shirley!

Great job getting her out from under the bed for her appt - I've had to cancel a vet appt before because I couldn't get to the cat.

Hope Shirley starts to feel better quickly!!

Phew I can breathe again.  to you Carole after all the upsets and worry and a big :kitty: scratch behind the ears for Shirley. HM sends his

It is such a worry when pets are sick. Bender did it to us during the week, turns out a tummy bug of some sort, so he has pills and liquid stuff to swallow and not much food until tomorrow at the earliest.

How has Madame Laverne managed through all of this??? I do hope she has not been fretting too much.

Great news Carole and thanks for posting it all.

Just caught this thread. I'm glad to here it is something treatable. I've had to remove all treats and wet food (that wasn't vet approve) form Grey's diet. I still slip him chicken though.

Science Diet is some really bad food. I would encourage you do to some research and find something better. Food allergies in our pets are commonly corn, soy or grain related. I must admit, I know much more about canine nutrition than feline but if you like, I can point you in the right direction to get some excellent information on the subject for you.

Science Diet is a very good cat and dog food, which unfortunately has, over the years, been smeared by smaller pet food companies, saying that corn, used in the food is bad for pets, which it isn't.

Well, despite the fact that I am getting dirty looks from Shirley because she had a dose of antibiotic this morning, she ATE some wet food and some dry food and is clearly feeling spunkier. I know it will take a few days to get back to normal, but I was so relieved to have her circling my feet this morning when I opened the can of cat food.

I know that there have been mixed reviews of Science Diet but I have used it before with other cats and they lived to 16 and 18 so I am going to stick with it. Might try adding a few treats (Laverne is not a happy camper about this) when the Vet says its okay. I'll keep y'all updated but I also believe all of your thoughts and prayers helped. I know they are getting on in years, but I don't think I could have made it through the last few years without them, without my stitching and without the forum.

I am so glad that Shirley is on the mend there is nothing worse than a member of your family being ill(in my book cats are definately family members). If you do find that science diet is the cause a good food is Burns food which has been formulated by a vet and has either chicken and rice or fish and rice,I think it was done for cats will allergies (not completely sure of that).I will keep my fingers crossed that all is well my thoughts and good wishes are with you. :applesauce: :applesauce:

The i/d food is a lifesaver. I've had kitties for a long time with lots of different issues (did they check her for pancreatitis?)
i/d has always worked to get them better and is easy to digest.
Good luck, I hope she feels better soon!!

Glad to hear that Shirley is feeling a bit better.

I used to have to watch my Mackie like a hawk, as he was diabetic so I know what it's like to have a cat that's not in perfect health. Hope the treatments you have get Shirley back to her usual self though :)
