Lovely design and a great start. I know the feeling about those big projects. prior to starting my geisha the biggest project I'd done was 5x7 and that took me several years to finish because I kept setting it aside for a year or so at a time. I'm sure my geisha would be going the same way if it weren't for having a rotation going.

I've always admired this one and seeing your first bird appearing I can see it is going to be wonderful watching you stitching it.

What a pretty and uplifting design. For me, seeing each bird emerge would be great incentive to keep going. It would feel like an accomplishment every time.

I'm looking forward to seeing further updates.

I have seen and LOVE that one! I will probably stitch that one too, someday. I saw it after my son bought this one for me so I don't want to hurt his feelings and stitch a different one :) I'm so addicted to bird XS patterns and charts and I have several in my stash and many more on my wishlist!. Most people on here go crazy on the HAED website but I want every pattern from Crossed wing collection!!!!

Here's my latest (photo) update. I've actually finished a third bird but still need to get a photo. I got sidetracked and started another small project  so my time is being split between the two.

That is exactly why I love this pattern so far. Each bird really doesn't take too long to do so that keeps it new and exciting!

I love this one. I had so many of the Crossed Wing Collection charts which I used when I did a bird themed afghan. They are some of the very best bird charts for sure. I sent some to Karen when she started her bird afghan, which I hope she gets back to as it was really lovely. If there are any that you would like (and you also, Tiffany) you can let me know here or pm me and I will be more than glad to see if they are among the ones I still have. I doubt that I will be stitching them again. They are mostly older charts, but still are great.

That is kind of you Carole! I love all birds but enjoy stitching songbirds best! I'll have another look on their website and see which ones I would love to own. If you have them, I would be happy to take them off your hands
I would love to see your bird afghan! I really hope Karen gets back to hers soon :P I believe she is the one that first told me about Crossed Wing Collection.

Tiff, I love those small projects! Can't wait to see you stitch them!

Calico - that is a gorgeous update and you are making good progress on it too. Well Done on the birds. It must be like each one is a mini project which helps to get the whole thing done.

Tiffany - why or why did I look at the one you put in your thread. I am NOT going to look at Cross Wings charts/kits but may look again sometime at their fabrics. I bought 2 at their annual July sale which are away downstairs.

Great update Calico, keep it up.

I do plan to get back to working on my bird afghan, likely after Christmas--at least by then the weather should be a bit cooler, if only for a few short weeks--I must admit, I really have missed stitching it!

I love watching the birds emerge. I am new to stitching so I'm also overwhelmed by larger projects. Heck, I'm overwhelmed by ANY project.

Here's a long overdue update on this one! I only work on it every now and then and this was my progress as of Feb. I've since moved on to another new start, an older UFO and some embroidery. Updates to all those coming soon.

This is the first project I'm trying to backstitch as I go along. I like that I'm getting it done but I think it's the reason I burn out quickly when I work on this and can only take it in small doses  When I pick it back up again, I need to finish the backstitching on the feeder roof which was really giving me fits on the little I did already....
