Doing my "filing"

Post by mauveme »

Had a bag of extra floss for months and since I have nothing to stitch right now I thought I would organize it. I have 5 boxes of bobbinated floss (all the DMC solids) plus the 4 very full boxes of extras, now I have to try and squeeze those loose ones into the 4 boxes,--I think I need another box.
AND with all those extras, I still had to order about a dozen today.
(OH, what the hell have they done to Photobucket--totally confused for a while with that If you don't like it, you can hit feedback and change back to the old format)

So much floss! I think organizing stash is the next best thing to stitching. And I was also very surprised when I went up to photoshop. When I get some time I guess I will start figuring it out. Since I don't use it for editing or any of the other things it does, I only need to make sure I can upload and get the pics to show here and on the HAED BB. Somehow, it would be good to be warned. Or maybe they did warn us, but I didn't pay attention.

Fabulous threads and yes I guess you need another box mauveme. They certainly have a lovely shine on them.

Definitely you need another box. I've been putting it off myself, but I think I need to get one too. Just dreading the bobbinating as always.

Nothing to stitch??? Yikes!

I have only bobbined what I am using for my projects but I really should pause my projects and get them all squared away in their box. I love seeing all the neat rows of color rather than a big pile of skeins. :)

Never fails though, no matter how much I have, I am always missing one or two for the next project. I ordered some White Monaco for a new project and floss for it.. Even with all the extra, I was still missing a few that I used up..

You and I were doing the same thing today. I had to make two trips to JoAnn's for another box and then for more bobbins. Hope you had as much fun as I did!

Great fun!! I think a new box is the only option...

I recently merged 8 boxes of floss into my existing 13 boxes. I still have 13 boxes, just I have a lot of 8a and 10b boxes.... ;)

WHY BOBBIN when it's EASIER to put in the 3 ring binders and use those sport card holders. That is EXACTLY what I did. I have a MIXTURE of bobbin and whole skeins.
I am USING ALL the bobbin threads in my projects, and have the WHOLE threads as EXTRA. I have 3, blue binders, for the NUMBERED MAIN thread collection, with those plastic pocket holders that I found years ago in my hobby store. Then they DECIDED to discontinue them, so I went to the sport card holders. For my EXTRA, I have 3 black binders, 3 plastic 8" x 14" sectioned compartment bins, and a 4 sectional compartment stackable, that BH,(better half), found in a yard sale. When I get my YEARLY supplies for the NEXT year's projects, I buy 1 skein of EACH color so I NEVER run out of thread.
When I KIT my yearly projects together, I add the COPIED pattern, threads, and personal info, in Wally sacks, and put in my laptop traveling bag, that BH, found in yard sale, that sits by my rocking chair and when I get thru with EA. project, with personal info put inside, I ROLL it up and put it in one of those plastic fabric tubes, Charles Craft, that I have COLLECTED over the years, until I get ready to frame, the 2nd week of Dec. of ea. year.
I am with OTHERS in here as it's FUN in SORTING and FILING your threads and getting all your supplies ready for the next project.
I make my YEARLY trip to my hobby store, which is 2 hours from me, on Black Friday. As others are HITTING the malls, I am at my hobby store, DROOLING :) over the merchandise. :D :D :D This year I am taking the grand girls, 5 and 7, for our Grand mom's Day Out. :D :D, LEAVING BH, BEHIND.   I will give them their OWN money and they can shop for ANYTHING they want, as they are LEARNING the craft.

HAPPY STITCHING IN STITCHING LAND. :applesauce: :D :applesauce:

I have a project all ready to go, just waitng for fabric, all the colours are pulled but my fingers are itching, so I think I will make a few more ornies, found a couple of charts I printed off a while ago. I can't do any vacuuming unril my new one arrives on Wed. Love the free shipping from WalMart. (my carpet is covered in little bits of floss all around my stitching chair, from the last one I did  )

What a relief! I thought we were going to have to do an intervention! Being brand new even I have stash now and I would be willing to share so that you had a project to work on. Lol

Best kind of filing if you ask me. I just did a slight bit of rearranging with my bobbin boxes to make things a bit more organized. 3 boxes of DMC solids, 1 box with DMC variegated/color variations, perles (solid & color variations), weeks dye works and the caron wildflower threads that Tiff sent me. And then another box to house all the thread I need for my HAED Mermaid and Gecko Rouge Mermaid. But I think I need to grab another box for my Avengers project floss and whatever other big project I decide to start next. I was using the organizer rings, but found them annoying with the bigger projects. They're great for small projects though.
