This pic doesn't really do the colours justice - but you get the general jist! :D

Thanks again for all your kind comments ...and I agree he does look extremely cuddly, although i'm not sure he would appreciate one!

Needing encouragement guys!

This background is sooooo slow and boring. Losing the will to stitch!

Noooo, you don't want to stop. It is going to be such an achievement. I love the colours here. I know it might feel a bit hard going for you but try and think of it in small 'patches' rather than looking at the whole amount to be done.
Say to yourself, I'm just going to complete this much today, and then feel really pleased if you manage more ... gradually you will see those patches (can't think of another wording right now) build up into big blocks completed.

You can do this, I know you can. Look how much you have already completed. You're almost there now ... don't give up!

It's stunning, don't give up now! If it's relatively easy blocks of colour perhaps you could do some while watching the telly, or listening to music, or being a good listener for any relatives who need to talk about problems :-) ?
Or allow yourself an itsy-bitsy small project in between parts of background just as a bit if a diversion?

Gee thanks guys - can always count on you to help! My little motivators - I'm so lucky  :D

Read your posts yesterday and had a boast of motivation - 2 hours into the block colour I realised I had been using the WRONG colour  ! It then took me about 3 hours to sort :ribbit: out!

Mr :ribbit: is NOT my best friend! Booooooo!!!!

I'm trying to keep going though despite this - and set myself goals like you guys suggested! What would I do without you!

Oh no! That darn frog :ribbit:
I find with every project I get to that 'walking through glue' stage, I have to really force myself to stick with it, then once past that stage I get into it again and win :D
I can look at most of my stitching and tell you where the 'sticky' stage was.
How sad am I

Here's an update after my :ribbit: moment! Slowly getting through the mundane job of stitching the background - although more left than it looks like as the picture goes down even further!

Think i'm going to have to start another project and pick up this one as and when! :thinks: Although never had two projects on the go at once - hope I don't get too confused :?

He is simple wonderful :D
I have had two projects on the go from time to time, the only thing I ever got confused was that one of them was worked using 3 strands, I forgot  :ribbit:

Nic this really is looking beautiful - well worth the effort. I can understand how you're feeling - I'm doing the background on my Orchids piecs at the moment and it does get pretty boring. I try to set myself goals. I mark on my chart with a highlighter pen the area I want to try to complete, then gradually fill it in. It does help to make me feel as if I'm getting somewhere. It did help me too, to take a little break and do a very small piece that is completely different (a flower card). Don't start something big though - you might never go back to this one and that would be a real shame (and we'd all have to give you a really hard time over it too :P )

Its lovely nic.

I like to have a few small projects available if I need a change. I don't like having more than one large one on the go.

A small design with no fracture stitches and less color changes my be just what you need to relax and revive. Then go back to the kitty because he will be calling you back to finish him.

The background is so pretty but I know what so much background color can do to your fun meter.

This is looking fabulous. Don't lose heart doing the background -- it really makes it look very dramatic.
