I will! It looks good fun, and perhaps I'll lay to rest my inability to do nice picots?

That looked sooooo easy on screen at first glance then I started reading, french knots - ok picots - oooh thats a new one but it looks lots of fun Mabel.
As for the sunshine etc, winter in Queensland is usually dry and sunny and very pleasant temperatures with little or no humidity. It is finally getting around to that so the sun in the middle and the blue sky are ok.
Thanks for all your hard work for us to enjoy ourselves.

It felt like a birthday present opening my email this morning and seeing this lovely design. I am looking forward to working on it this week-end, I hope. At least getting started. I've already started planning which colors to use where. Thank you Mabel!

I'm rather dreading trying to write (and photograph...) two sets of instructions for the picots, Louise -- but I've got another two weeks for that...

Another lovely design, Mabel, thank you
I like the button hole flower and the eyelets - I think I am going to have trouble with the picots and placing the French daisies though
Hope to make a start tomorrow

I August's design Mabel. The daisy petals look like ears of wheat, which is so appropriate for me because wheat was a part of the wedding decorations at our son's wedding last week. He has worked many long hours on farms, harvesting crops. I may well do this design again for their first wedding anniversary.
I must get on and start July though.

How lovely that it feels so appropriate, Lesley -- I'd be honoured if you used it for his first anniversary!

Re: Song of the Weather SAL - August and onwards!
Would anyone mind if I put my June here? I didn't want to push the old thread over 50pp. Also, I have better photos of April and May. Shall I just replace what's in the old thread or stuff them in here?
I'm describing the perennial sweet peas I have growing up the berberis in June's SAL. I've used Watercolours Rose Blush for the kloster blocks and loops of the Pekinese stitch and Anchor Pearl #5 dk wine (1028), which is uncannily like the colour at the centre of the sweet pea, plus Anchor pearl #8 green (208) and Caron Wildflowers Shenandoah (241).
I'm quite happy with this, although not happy at all with my split twists -- the Caron thread is so soft that it just won't hold properly.

Re: Song of the Weather SAL - August and onwards!
Your sweet pea colours are gorgeous Serinde, what a lovely representation of June! And yes, do put your new April & May pics here, we ought to close the old thread I think. I'll put the new ones in the SAL Gallery when you post them.
I like the effect of the floral Peknese twist with the "stem" of green as the base stitch, works great. As for the Wildflowers, speciality threads can sometimes be a bit unpredictable in how they hold their shape in various stitches; I remember working with a Tamar thread for French knots which was a nightmare to pull through because it twisted on itself so much!

Well, ok, then: here's the new May (Carole made me realise I had to up my photographic game, quite rightly):
and here's a brighter April. Can I also say I used bullion knots to some effect (a lightbulb, since you ask) on the James Watt panel? Thanks, Mabel!

Beautiful beautiful pieces Serinde. And the photographs now do your stitching justice! I love how you use the variegated threads in your pieces. These are just stunning!
