Hello from Massachusetts, USA
Hi everyone,
I just found this forum yesterday and wanted to join to share experiences and tips. My name is Linda and I live in Southeastern Massachusetts.
I've been doing counted cross stitch for at least 20 years (have lost count!) and it's one of my favorite needlework activities. I also do needlepoint, crewel and have just started learning crochet.
My current cross stitch projects are "The Wave", a Gold Collection Dimensions kit, and "Beacon at Rocky Point" a Petite Gold Collection kit. The latter is near completion, but "The Wave" has a long way to go yet. (DBF asked me last week if I thought I might finish it 'this year' )
I'm looking forward to chatting with fellow stitchers and hearing about everyone's favorite online resources.

The Wave - current project
I haven't taken any photos of it yet, but I will try to post one soon. It's been a quite discouraging at times because it consists of about a dozen shades of blue-as well as many blended shades. (Of... blue!)
I've finally developed a game plan-after many goof-ups. Besides enlarging the graph in sections and marking them off as I went along, I decided that the only thing that was going to get me through this would be to do one 10 stitch X 10 stitch square at a time.
I've recently bought a needle organizer for all the different colors, too. (I'd made a simple one for myself, but it wasn't large enough to accommodate all the color variations.)

Has anyone figured out why we torture ourselves so?

Well you see...there is a story that goes with that one. <LOL> I do like seascapes but have limited time to stitch, considering numerous other hobbies. I tend to do projects with animals as the main theme (especially dogs or horses), but I saw Beacon at Rocky Point completed, matted and framed at the store and thought it was quite pretty.
I've had my moments with that one, but it's almost complete now. I'm just doing backstitching and have some embellishments to do. Instead of French knots, I'm planning to use seed beads for the tiny flowers in the pattern.
Thanks to everyone for their warm welcome.
