Nacho's Deep Blue Sea - Update Jan 4th.

Post by nachosmiley »

As some of you know, I have been wanting to stitch a Chatelaine for aaaages, but they are pretty much out of my financial league. Anyhoo I asked all my family and friends to club together and get me vouchers for the ECC for Christmas, so I could finally get a kit. They came through for me, and I ordered the kit for the mystery on boxing day. It actually arrived about a week ago and so as you may imagine I have started it immediately....I just could NOT wait....besides I'm already one part behind and the next part is due out at the beginning of March so I'm feeling the need to catch up!

I can't show you the pic of the finished design, as this is a mystery I don't know myself!! Having said that I do know that it is a mandala and that the theme is The Deep Blue Sea!

So without further ado here is a pic of where I am now (a week in)

Image

and a bit of a close up....

Image

Can't seem to get a good pic of this one....the colours just seem a bit off

The central section of Martinas design is her interpretation of a view of a plankton through a microscope....just in case you were wondering  Here are a few of the real thing, pretty little critters eh?

:applesauce: a beautiful start. What gorgeous colors - fabric and threads. It is a Deep Blue Sea. What is the fabric? I am so looking forward to your updates on this one. Are there a lot of specialty stitches?

This is a great start. Love the colours and the richness and definitely can see the interpretation of the plankton.

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments

The fabby is from Sparklies, it's called Moonlighting and it's a 28cnt linen....much prefer evenweave but I wanted the dye to be that bit darker, so linen it must be!! As for the speciality stitches, there are only two types in part one, dense rhodes (in the spaces on the plankton bits!) and algerian eyelets (a row between the plankton and the gold border).

That is absolutely gorgeous and the fabric is just so right. Love the pics of the real things too, so pretty.

Seeing your start makes me want to start my Chatelaine but I am not coping with the 3 I have going at present so I had better not start anything else.

Great work and I am sure you will get it done in time for the next instalment.

Lovely work and can't wait to see how this develops. I'm with Squirrel, I want to start mine too, but really must make some sensible progress on my SQ and my HAED before I start another biggie!
