Nautical Nephew Birth Record - Update June 26th

Post by ChristineHinderer »

I am not sure how to post best for updates. I have been making new posts each time but I am looking at other folks' posts and it looks like you can go all the way back to the first post and see each update. I like that ability. So this time I am posting a reply on my existing post. I hope that is right.

This week my son was home from his daily therapy. It was his first summer break. He is five and has autism so he enjoys/needs routine. We bought a membership with a local children's museum and I took him each day. I used the museum to get him out of the house and engaged with the world each day. It kept his daily routine intact and gave him time to learn to explore a new place. I was very proud that by our visit Thursday he had more confidence and was willing to look at different exhibits and play with toys in different ways. We also signed him up for the summer reading program at our library. In his case we were able to sign up to read 20 books to him.

A week without therapy means I haven't had a lot of downtime. I managed to put the background behind the fish and add some defining backstitching.

It looks like you have made a lot of progress. :applesauce: I am always amazed at how much of a difference the backstitching makes. It really shows off the fish. It looks like they might just swim right off the fabric. I look forward to the next update.

It looks fantastic. And yay for your son being able to do the museum. I have a friend whose son has autism and I know these things that are so simple to us are quite a challenge for those with autism.

I took a detour and made three small patches for some friends. We exchange letters with small crafts to encourage each other. This is the July wreath from 365 Tiny Cross Stitch Design by Kooler Design Studio

Image

The Nautical Nephew pattern moves forward! The fish at the bottom are complete, the rope border is complete. There is a compass, shells and the baby's name and birth stats remaining. I might finish this before the baby is born. :D

The baby is due in mid-August. We had a lovely time at the baby shower this past weekend. It was open to friends and family, girls and boys, young and old and everyone had a wonderful time. We know it is a boy but they were waiting to share the name. It is always exciting to hear news of a new baby but I really love it when I am the one who gets to stitch all details.

This is looking really great and you are making wonderful progress on it. I agree it is always great to hear of a new baby in the family - my step grand-daughter is expecting her first in September and I have a little sampler chart standing by to start very soon. :D
Looking forward to the next update.
