Re: (Important Message pg 1 top) Christmas Ornament Exchange
I'm so glad you liked it! I've been wanting to stitch thatsanta pattern for ages now and when you said you liked non-traditional santas, I knew it was going to be the one! And I couldn't resist adding the beads.. though I think that part took me almost as long as the stitching did! LOL!Katiespark wrote:I got a stunning ornament in the mail today!!! Thanks a million to Jas (needleandfork)! It's gorgeous and already on my tree!
Check out the amazing finishing - all those beads!
And a picture won't do this justice, but the feel of the linen is just wonderful. Very smooth and silky. I absolutely love it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The linen is 32 count MGC linen that you can buy at Michaels or Joanns. I buy it in white and dye it to the 'natural' color of your ornament using tea or coffee. It's my go-to linen for ornaments. I just got some more supplies, so I'm going to try dying with other foodstuffs.. Avocado peels are next on my list - they supposedly make a nice pink dye!

Re: (Important Message pg 1 top) Christmas Ornament Exchange
I finished stitching the replacement ornament last night, and guess what was in my mailbox today? The original ornament. It found its way back to Colorado and will soon be back on its way to Canada, with the new ornament to keep it company.

The original ornament is on its way back to Canada, with the replacement ornament to keep it company. Let's keep our fingers crossed there are no more detours and the package can make this a one-way trip.

Re: (Important Message pg 1 top) Christmas Ornament Exchange
I got my ornament last night from our lovely hostess Shannon (LastingAllure). It's the cutest little reindeer ornament, and I love it. Had to wait until I got to work this morning to post the pic of it (since we still don't have internet yet out at the new place) and apparently my phone deleted the pic I took. Grrrr. So I will have to post a pic tomorrow, but in the meantime wanted to at least let my partner know it had arrived safe and sound.

Very cute and a very creative finish - something I would like to figure out how to do one day.

Yeah, I need to ask Shannon how she did the finish because I love it and want to do it myself as well.Linda Rose wrote:Very cute and a very creative finish - something I would like to figure out how to do one day.

Re: (Important Message pg 1 top) Christmas Ornament Exchange
yay! You got it in time for Christmas glad you love her, I thought she looked Disney-ish to go with your Disney ornaments. I added the holly to make her more Christmas like and the little red for a touch of sparkle.
As for finishing....I made a quilt block using stripes of fabric sewing on the sides first then the top and bottom. I then took some quilt batting and a piece of fabric the same size as the quilt block and sewed them together like a pillow (with the quilt batting on the outside so when you turn it inside out it goes into the pillow). Then you turn it inside out and sew up the hole with hand stitching and then you can either hand sew or machine sew around the edge of the cross stitching fabric as close to the edge of the fabric as you can to "quilt it." I have finished a few ornaments off this way now
I was hoping to post a photo of my ornament I got the other day but my phone's camera isn't doing the piece justice. So I am waiting for the camera to charge and can hopefully post a picture of it later tonight I just love the ornament so much

Re: (Important Message pg 1 top) Christmas Ornament Exchange
I am in LOVE with my ornament thank you sooooooooooooooo much perftangel !!!! It goes so well with our ornaments on the tree and I think I might keep it out year round. Love the way you finished it too. The beads are so delicate and the fabric is to die for! your stitches are so neat too!
It never surprises me how much talent we have in this group. Everyone is so talented with their stitching and so many different ways to finish their ornaments. Can't wait to see a few more

Very nice ornament indeed! The finish is quite lovely. Some of us might have had a rough start, but there 's no denying there's a lot of creativity and talent in this group. Great stitching by all!n
