Hello, im stitching a Tiger.
and it says that there are different types of grey when i only have one really dark grey, and a light grey that came with the Kit, iv'e organised the colours.
The colour chart says:
Dark shell grey
Light shell grey
Very dark pewter grey
Medium shell grey
dark ash grey.
I hope i have not done the wrong grey! It told me to do the " veryDark Pewter grey"
Will attack some photos.

Re: Colours help!!!
Is this a full kit you are stitching? It should have all the colors that are listed for the pattern. Are you saying they didn't include all of them? Or maybe just they are so similar that you can't tell them apart? If the latter is the case, i would suggest trying to view them under a couple different lights to see if you can tell the difference then. If the kit is missing some, you should email or call the company that made the kit and tell them your situation and they should send you the missing threads. Hope this helps
At the ends of our lives, it is not the things we did that we regret, but the things we didn't do

Re: Colours help!!!
What brand is it? Different brands come with different instructions. Sometimes the way to pick is to separate the colours and then work by the number of strands you are meant to have. I did a kit once where it called for a grey and the colour looked decidedly tan to me.
Another trick is to find good light and separate the colours on a piece of white paper - this can show up the difference if it's just slight.

Re: Colours help!!!
They sound like DMC colours to me. I think the DMC shell greys have a pinkish hue and pewter grey has a bluish hue. Does this help?
Dark, medium and light shell grey are shades 451, 452 and 453 respectively.
Very dark pewter grey is shade 3799
Frustratingly, I can't find dark ash grey.
Have fun attacking the photos!

I agree with what the others have said about the other grey colors may have more of a pinkish or tannish color to them, making things very confusing!
Sometimes it helps to look at the cover picture for the areas that call for those colors to try and make sense out of it
