Re: UFO Club (1st to 7th of each month)
As promised, here is an update on my 'UFO' of Serenity from the show Firefly:
Original image:
I've started in the lower right, and tilted the image. It's on 28 count evenweave, final size 22 x 13 inches:
after about a week of work, a couple hours each night after classes:
Some notes:
Black fabric is VERY difficult to photograph, and the piece I'm using has a bit of a sheen to it, so it reflects flash. This project looks 100 times better in person, and when I get some good weather I'm going to experiment photographing it outside. These current photos just don't do it justice because of light reflection causing glare, and how the camera picks up colour due to the flash. They blend a lot better when looked at with the human eye.
I'm considering putting a star field in the background, but I won't know how necessary that is until I finish. The DMC black is different than the fabric and it stands out fairly well in good lighting.
I wish I could remember the type of fabric it's on, as I'll never use it again. It's a good name brand, too, so I was disappointed in the quality due to the shine and the fact that it's dyed AFTER weaving (pushing any weaving aside shows white beneath). None of that will show, but I find that to be downright lame, to buy a piece of fabric for this that cost almost $30 only to have crappy dye work done.
Buffy-- love that song! I'm a 'drooling' fan of the show, and BtVS grew on me. Dr Horrible of course, is another favourite. This project is intended for my husband (he knows I'm working on it).

Re: UFO Club (1st to 7th of each month)
I have a couple of UFOs that I can stitch plus I need to keep going on my "Past, Present, Forever" so I decided to do a rotation during the UFO week. They are "Past, Present, Forever", SanMan 4 Seasons bookmark, O'Canada, "Let's Bounce" and Herd of Elephant. I am stitching at least an hour for each project since I desperately to see some accomplishments and feel that I am making progress. LOL

Re: UFO Club (1st to 7th of each month)
Some have projects that have become neglected or left out of a rotation, to try to get these projects back on track and completed some one suggested that at the beginning of each month, those that would like to would pick a UFO and would work on it from the 1st to the 7th of the month. Then at the end of the week post progress picture to show that they really have made a stab at getting these projects finished. With the encouragement from all of the forum members.

Re: UFO Club (1st to 7th of each month)
Thank you Rose. That is a good idea. I have some I haven't included in my because they are really old, but I am sure would love some attention. and today is the 1st of the month. Now, I have to remember where I put them for safekeeping.

Re: UFO Club (1st to 7th of each month)
This month I'll be working on my backstitching (which I hate to do). I'll do A Star is Born and my Adobe House. If I got both of those done I might finish my Mother project or start ripping out one of my many mistakes. That should be interesting to see a before and after picture where the project actually gets smaller. We'll see how the week goes.
current project rotation:
Twilight Balloon Flight
The Accolade
Faces of Faery 89
Dad's Flower Pot

I think I'll pull out my Marilyn Monroe one (my husband would really love me to finish that one). It is a full face of Marilyn in sepia on ivory fabric.
