Oh no, not having problems and I wouldn't even say there was any significant confetti. It's just that this area had blue, green, pink, and red details in addition to the main background colors. This translated into a fair amount of 2 stitches of one color only to switch and do 2 of another color across the entire ~7500 stitch area. 15 of the 88 colors have 10 stitches or less and I think most of those 15 were in this area in the bits of detail where they are needed. The Ionian Mission will of course be far worse and I have no one to complain to but myself if I don't like it.
Thank you to everyone for your kind comments.

It does sound like a challenge but by the time you finish this project, you will have found a way to be super efficient with confetti
Your "History of Chocolate" is looking great already!

I love the Randal Spanglers...especially with a chocolate theme. I've narrowed down my choices for my next stitching project, and there are two Spanglers in the running...one of which features chocolate.
It's nice to see this update. I know how slow going it can be with confetti stitching. I am definitely looking forward to seeing more update pictures on this piece.

And here we are, only 3 years after the previous update with a page finish. This wasn't a full page in that it is only 62 stitches wide and I had already done the top 27 rows as part of a HAED Challenge. So the area stitched in the past 3 weeks is only 68 x 62, or 4216 stitches. I enjoyed the variety of colors and getting to see the dragling (the name given by the artist) taking shape and not being a floating head.
I'm going to take at least a few days off from cross stitching before I resume again, but rather than rotating to another piece I may chose to press on with this one as I've only got another 61 rows to go before this piece is completed and ready to be finished into the world's largest bookmark. Even on 28 count Lugana this thing is 2.25" x 12.5" (57mm x 318mm) and only suited for the largest of books.

I love this and you’re doing it magnificently. I’ve been thinking about doing a Spangler Story Keep as my next HAED.

That is nice. Good to see it coming on. Three year hiatus. A mere bagatelle.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I do enjoy the bright colors and fun image. Not too twee I hope. Also, I hope the finish isn't 3 years away.

Only 5.5 years from start to finish! I've actually been done for two months, but I didn't want to show it till I had time to clean and press it. Now I just need to figure out a good way to finish it into a usable bookmark.
As a reminder, this is on 28 count Lugana and it is 2.25" x 12.5" (57mm x 318mm) and is 62 stitches wide by 349 high with 88 colours.

What fun! And well done for finishing. A very long bookmark or a lovely little diversionary wall piece?

Congratulations on finishing this piece and doing such a great job. IMHO 5 years to finish any HAED is an accomplishment (I have a few that are going on 10 years). And thank you for posting this for us to see!

It’s fabulous!! I have this chart and can’t wait to start it…but I must. Actually, I bought the chart with all the books because I couldn’t decide which one I wanted to stitch.
