YES!!! :) You'll have tons of fun. Check out Steph's Fabric (or Crafty Kitten, but she's in the UK so it takes awhile) they are both awesome.

Also, it's my first mystery piece & first stitch a-long tooo! :D

My husband & I are planning a trip to Denver over the 4th of July and of course I looked up cross stitch stores and I found one that sells Cosmo floss, so I think I'm going to go buy some for this project! I had looked into it from the "workshop" in Canada, but it was too much ($20 with shipping!)

Now I'm even more excited to start this project. :) :whoop:

I have to pull the floss and then hope I have some fabby here I can use. I don't want to buy unless I really have to...because I find I ca't order just one thing...it would get so lonely in a package all by itself all the way to Colorado! :-)

I pm'd you; you'll love Fort Collins! Just be ready for some road construction. Our road work season is pretty short, so there's always a lot going on in the summer...especially when they're relaying gas company pipes. :-)

What fabric are you using? I found some medium darkish beige-y (yeah, I know. vague) Lugana in my stash, or I could use an off white Aida (or a bright turquoise!! Aida). I'm not sold on the Lugana, but I'm trying to stick to my Stitch from Stash budget and not buy fabric. I could raid my kitted up projects to see what's in there (like I did for the Joan Elliott SAL). I just can't decide. Ugh! :-(

I was going to take a picture of my fabric, but I have decided to wait until the floss comes in, it shipped already. It is such a pain to get pictures off my phone and I really do not know which fabric to use. So I will wait till it all arrives, then I will take a picture of the three fabric choices I have so you guys can help me decide. I too am having issues deciding. I want to stitch on what I have, but then I joined the frosted pumpkin stitch along group on facebook and I saw what some people will be stitching on and now I am totally messed up... :tantrum: I like the idea of doing something with a spooky dark color so it looks like the sky, but I really do not want to wait for fabric to come in. I know I will want to stitch on Thursday at noon!!!

Soooo I will not let myself look at that page right now, because as of last night I was convinced I would be online shopping this morning, but I just can't let myself do it. I really don't want to spend the money, but I really want it to look great too...

Now that I just typed all that out, I want a spooky sky fabric...

I think I'm just going to do it on the piece of Lugana I have...the one I described as"medium darkish beige-y". And had I read the note I had pinned to the selvage, I would have seen it is a 32 count taupe. :-) I did a floss toss on some linens I have on hand and nothing worked. The taupe Lugana isn't as special or "moody" as the others, but the colors do look nice on it, so there you go.

My only comment on what to choose is to make sure that it's "dark" enough to show the white... I read that in the pre-lim handout. :)

I like the teal-ish idea I'm all about colors! Mine is a purpl-ish color. :)

See, there you go about the pretty colors again! :-) I love all the pretty fabby colors...trying to show some willpower and not order new fabby...oh dear....

The white will show nicely on my taupe because it's relatively medium-ish dark...but pretty colors...I should probably step away from the computer now to avoid on-line shopping....

I think a taupe will be good too though! It'll have a more neutral background and the town will POP instead of blending! :)

I have never been so excited to see the mail truck! My floss came in, now to decide which fabric. I will say they all look the same in the pictures. Uggggg I WILL NOT PURCHASE NEW FABRIC!!! I know I am yelling, it is not at you, it is at me. I really can not go outside my budget, so I will stitch on what I have, but I will tell you that little voice is very loud right now to purchase a hand dyed fabric. Ok so the four that I have in my stash are all very similar....I have two that I am leaning towards (#1 and #4, my issue is that I have stitched on Aida many times, but never 28 count, I have done two small pieces on linen, but never Evenweave and I think I might like to try something new...) , but would love your opinion on which one you guys like. As I type this and look at the pictures the fabric is BORING, but I keep telling myself it is the stitching that is suppose to pop...

#1 is Aida 28 count called Sand
Image

#2 is Monaco 28 count called Tea
Image

#3 is Evenweave 28 count called Mushroom
Image

#4 is Evenweave 28 count called Tea

Littleturtlegirl,

I don't know why, but #4 catches my eye.

Either #3 or #4. The colors are really pretty against the fabric.

QUESTION!!!!!

We now have 24 hours till we get to start this project! :whoop: I have never stitched with any floss except DMC. I was just watching a video, my new obsession, and the woman said that she has never stitched with hand died floss (she got some as a gift), but was told by a woman who owned a shop to soak the floss in water till the water runs clear and then let them dry for 12 hours. Do I need to do anything with the floss for this project, or am I just stitching away tomorrow?

Also I finished my travel piece yesterday so I am all ready to stitch away tomorrow. I will only let myself have two pieces going at a time. Heck before this site I was only stitching one and swore I would never do multiple WIPS. You guys are a bad influence.

Wellllllll, do you wash your project at the end? I've never washed my threads first... and I normally wash my pieces afterwards and I haven't had an issue, but that doesn't mean that I won't... I wasn't very helpful. I'm probably not going to wash them, but that could bite me in the butt later when I wash the finished project.
