Did I miss the start? I'm on the list and I want to make sure that I'm stitching in time. If I missed my partner, Coffee, can you let me know who I'm matched with.....

I don't think we started yet, did we? I have not started stitching as I was waiting for the final dimensions. Oops I hope I am still able to do this. Can we get a couple others to join in?

I didn't either. Especially since I am in the middle - who is my partner then? We definitely need one more person at least!!! Or change the way how we pair up!

basically..we all put a pic of ours when we finish and then whoever sends you a PM first claiming it..is who you send it to..
figured that would be easiest..

but only claim it if you have one to offer...
you swap with each other..
and you can only claim one per "round"
unless you stitch another to offer..

sound fair? or confusing?

Complicated, this one :? but it sounds like a great idea. Could someone explain to me again in words of one syllable (sorry for being dense ):

1) what exactly I would have to make
2) when it would need to be finished
3) whom I would send it to
4) any other useful bits of advice you can think of

Thanks!

1) what exactly I would have to make
--the very first post tells all that info..even a link to the site that gives examples--

2) when it would need to be finished
--whenver you want!--

3) whom I would send it to
--when you post a pic..whoever likes yours enough to swap with you--

4) any other useful bits of advice you can think of
--have fun!--

So CF are we going to us the dimensions that the link gives?

Are you going to tell us what size fabric(count) or are we to chose?

Are you going to choose the fabric type or is that our choice?

Since this is the first but I hope not last we maybe a bit confused but I think it will be a blast. :P

That site you posted is very interesting! They do seem to take it rather seriously though -- I mean I love stitching, and I'm quite proud of some of the things I've done, but I don't really think of myself as producing art...

Can I enter even if the final product is just a pleasant piece of cross stitch :-)?

Oh, and to add to Rose's questions, is there a theme or are we completely free to do what we like? Is it to be a picture, or can it be abstract or a decorative alphabet? Colours, threads -- whatever the stitcher chooses or are there rules? Beads, buttons, what-d'ye-call-them, er, charms, that's the word -- allowed?

As Rose said it's going to be great once we all know what we're doing :-)!

totally free to do whatever you want!

the ONLY rule is the size! you can use any color or count fabbie..you can stitch whatever you want

I finished my first one! stitched and put together in 2hrs while my son napped!
i took pieces from different patterns, and then i changed the colors..added a few things and viola!

Ooh, aren't you quick!

By the way, is it better/easier to finish the back with felt or paper? Glue or double-sided tape?

Show us your back, CF :-)

haha ok what i did was just fold everything under and then glue paper on the back..i should've used cardstock, felt or thicker paper..it's a bit wrinkled but not bad...

You do realise that this is yet another little project sitting there very insidiously by my chair saying, 'oh, you can start me, I don't really count I'm so small', now making 5 primed flexihoops in total?

My husband is beginning to cast very odd glances in my direction when he sees me surrounded by mounds of fabrics and floss and threaded needles...

Oh, I'm in trouble and I'm completely confused. I know that Im being very dense but would appreciate a bit of guidance. I know that if its a matter of she who posts first gets first bid, I'm in trouble. The next few weeks will be tough for me with two professional presentations across country. I don't want to back out but can we make it a bit more structured?

May I suggest something?
What if our hostess, Coffee Freak puts all the names in a hat and draws out two at a time - thus making the pairs who are sending their cards to each other.
When the first round is complete, everyone sent her card, we can do another pairing.
What do you think? :?:

Sounds like a nice, structured idea!

I'm working on a little sampler for this but may not have it finished this week as -- Yippee! :D -- I'm off to London tomorrow for my birthday visit to the Stich & Craft Fair, and over the weekend we've got a family party, but I hope to be able to finish it Sunday evening.

This is really a great idea, it's nice and quick (though I don't think I can beat your two hours, CF!) with lots and lots of possibilities.

we can make it structured but the problem i saw with it was this..

we group everyone up....and one person is done w/ theirs but their partner isn't able to do it as fast..and feels pressued because they know their partner is done and ready to swap...

i figured if you had one done..and someone else had theirs done..you swap with that person..

as other people finish they post pictures and can swap..

but if we want to set a deadline and all swap w/ our partners at the same time that is cool too.

just figured this would be a fun do it when you can swap...no deadlines..

but it's up to you all...i'll post the sign up sheet and when you have finished yours..add "done" to your name..when everyone is done..we'll swap.

If i've missed anyone..add your name...PM me when you are done..and i'll add done to your name...
then when we are all done, i'll pair everyone up..and we can swap.

Well, there is some truth in what you say, Coffee Freak, there is enough stress in our lives without adding more deadlines...

I think this will be a really good idea - we can even say that we are patient, nobody has to feel really pressed because the others are done.

And these are small and fun to stitch, too...

(I dreamed about it at night and when I got up, I had to sit down and start designing it - and by now half ready with stitching)
