Framing Work

Can anybody reccommend a good tutorial online for framing work? There seem to be tons out there, but some of them...don't make as much sense as they could.

Additionally, with the mats, could you explain how they work ? The pictures are kind of not working on this and I'm a tad confused still about ...

Re: Aurora's Projects 2011

Fantastic finish on the ballerinas! Good luck on the coffee one, have you tried doing some backstitch, then some more cross stitch and that way you don't have to do all the backstitch at once? Tinkerbell is so cute!

Taking your advice and starting on the stupid outlining of the stupid border ...

Aurora's Projects 2011

So...I kept on meaning to get this done...and I kept not. ):

The ballerina one I was all excited about doing the other day... I finished this one in 2.5 weeks because I was trying to get it done /fast/... I'm quite proud of this one. Used a free pattern on DMC's site.

Re: Winding Bobbins

I bought a bobbin-winder, but abadoned it after about a minute of trying- it winded too loosely and generally made a pain of itself because the floss would catch on the edge of the bobbin and...regardless, I'm now winding by hand. q:

Re: Winding Bobbins

No question is a stupid question. I wind the whole skein on the bobbin. I then cut a piece when I need it and separate the strands from there.

What design did you kit up? Can't wait to see pics!

Thaaank you so much!

Um... the cute 'Ballerinas' design here:

Winding Bobbins

Okay, I'm feeling silly just asking this, but when you are winding bobbins, does one wind single-ply or the entire skein?

(I decided to kit up my first chart today, so went to Hobby Lobby and came back with lots of goodies.)

Stitching Color-on-Color

I'm currently working on two projects where I'm needing to stitch pretty much the exact color of the thread on the same color fabric- one is white-on-white, and one is black-on-black. Does anybody have any tricks for doing so better? Because I can't see the stitches as well, I end up being unhappy ...

It's incredibly nice to meet all of y'all- I certainly hope I'll finish -something- soon! I keep on bouncing back between projects! I'll start one and get really excited about it, and I'll work along happily-- and then I'll realize how little I've done, get sad, put that one away, and work on ...

Re: Jumping to Evenweave

Thanks y'all! I think I'll probably just end up keeping that particular kit with the aida fabric and start with a new chart and try evenweave. (:

(And yes, absolutely gorgeous!)
