Learning to do new stitches

Post by Serinde »

Trying to find out more about ATCs, I came across this website. Perhaps you have seen it before? Every week a new embellishment stitch is taught and by ruffling through the archive, you can start at the beginning with herringbone stitch. Suspect French knots are in there somewhere! :D

For anyone trying to learn intricate stitches -- this week is bullion knots -- it looks like a fabulous resource.

Oh what a great site, I've never done hardanger before, but would like to give it a go one day, so I've bookmarked the page for future reference. There's some really pretty patterns.

Hardanger is a very pretty stitching style. I have not done it only because I have so many cross stitch patterns and projects to do that if I started the hardanger they would get left behind. I have seen some beautiful stuff done but I am keeping to the cross stitch that I already have more then I can do in this life.

If you are interested in hardanger, try this link for tutorials online: http://nordicneedle.com/tips/
Also Easing into Hardanger by Mary Hickmott is the best teaching book. Good looking designs, too.

Thanks, Serinde, I've put a favourite search on ebay for the book, I think I might give it a go next year, after I've finished stitching the cross stitch backlog I have at the moment!!

Oh, I just signed up for a six week on line class with her that starts in October. It's called A Personal Library of Stitches. I thought it sounded wonderful and full of information. It's on the Joggles.com shop webpage.
