Kazzi, I'll do a little looking for you a little later (leaving in a few minutes to take daughter to gymnastics). I have a few ideas/thoughts that I'll let you know about.

I have used this seller http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/cake-decs" target="_blank" target="_blank on e-bay and if she does not have what you are looking for she may be able to get it for you.

it is a very pretty cake, but i have to ask are they food safe, and if they are not edible, will you put a note next to the cake asking people to ensure all the diamonds are removed so they dont choke, espesh with little children, i know my 2 wont give a 2nd thought to it and just eat.

Kazzi, rhinestones are flat backed and you really can get them on loads of web sites and in a huge variety of colours and sizes. I got some hotfix ones a while ago (I wouldn't recommend these for a cake as they come with glue on them), but I can't remember what web site I used. You could take a look here to give you an idea of what's available.

I do agree with Lisa though - it would be awful if someone did try to eat one.

Sorry it took a while. Things have been a little crazy. The others have already mentioned most of what I was going to. As far as I know, there are no edible decorations like the ones on the cake. You can find the little gold and silver balls that are edible, but that's about it. I agree that you would want to stick with a flat backed decoration because it will be easier to stick on the cake with a little bit of icing. As for the bows and decorations on them, it looks like they just took a satin type ribbon to make the bows and then used a gem decoration to cover up the center. I'm sure you could find something decorative that you liked or simply make one by gluing rhinestones onto a piece of cardboard maybe to make your own.

One downside of a cake like this has already been mentioned--everything has to be taken off before serving. As long as the people cutting the cake are made aware of this before hand, it's fine. The other thing depends on how you and OH plan on cutting the first piece. The easiest thing to do would probably to have a small section in the back where there's no gems so you don't have to take them off before you cut. If the ribbon ends in the back, then you can just gently pull one side of it open to cut the slice without affecting the front of it. Also make sure there's a bag or seperate place where everything can be put when it's taken off so it doesn't get in the way of serving.

It is a beautiful cake, and is definitely an easy one to do on your own. The stand is a good idea, but feel free to try a stacked cake if you really like that look!

i will make the hotel aware that everything must be took off the cake b4 consumption
alltho theres not going to be many children at the evening reception...or i may designate a cake cutter/disher outer....
i have found some flat back ones in all shapes and colours....im thinking large clear ones with some light pink smaller ones scattered about...just to give it a bit more colour?
