The bistro is really developing well, and the hot water bottle is lovely.

...and finally the Bistro is complete

Image

I have to say, my inital plan was to stitch some, and do some back stitch but I ended up leaving the back stitch to the end and the last week have REALLY HATED doing it, it seemed never ending...so if you are planning on doing this, do some of the backstitch as you go along. I now know why people have big projects done that just need the back stitching done and become UFO's.

Other than that, I am happy with it and it's off to the framers tomorrow...do you know I have not seem the framer since the end of January

I think the next thing I will stitch will be some little cover kits and cards as i need a break from big stuff and maybe I'll do some of my christams ornaments...i have about 5 kits if not more of ornaments that seem to remain unopen year after year.

I got a shopping gift card for the local craft and haberdashery shop from the peoples at my old place of employment which I have not spent yet. I have not bought much stash this year, i think maybe two kits at the most..one was an ebay impulse purchase which i didn't like when it came so it's at the back of the cupboard

Oh, i forgot to say, I never did it on the original 16 count dove grey aida it came with..I did this on 14 count lighter shade of grey aida and didn't run out of thread except the black which i had some left from other dimensions kits.

reason: I have no idea..really i think I just didn't like the dark fabric and being 16 count as well.

Beautiful finish!! Sorry the backstitch was a pain, but it's well worth it in the end. :applesauce:

I hope you have fun on your stash spree! And good idea to start some Xmas stuff now.

So pretty, and tons of backstitching!! I have a love the way backstitching makes designs pop...but it can be soo tedious to do!

Beautiful Bistro! Yes - I learnt my lesson with backstitch and now I always do it as I go along - or stitch designs that avoid it altogether!!

:applesauce: Beautiful finish. I do backstitch usually as I go along, but sometimes save it for the end. I kind of like it when it really does outline or make a piece come to lifel. Sometimes it seems like it is just there to be there and I have cheated and just not done it if it seems a waste of time. I only hate it when it is krenik or metallic threads which just don't seem to outline well. Yours is well done and also seems like it was well worth it. Congratulations on a great finish.

Wow!!!! When I first scrolled down to the picture I thought that was a picture of your next project and what it would look like. Then I realized you had started a bistro project that somehow I missed a few updates and that picture was actually your very own finish. It looks fantastic! You deserve to reward yourself with some new stash....and easier projects. :applesauce:

A fantastic piece of work Barb and now you can relax with something small and bright for a while. Your framer will be delighted to see you after such a long break.

Great you have a gift voucher to spend too. Good on them for giving you something you can have fun with.

Great work dear friend.

Sally

Absolutely beautiful! This is such a striking and detailed design - I like the atmosphere it evokes, and the perspective. Almost feel like I can stroll down the alley to the buildings in the centre. Great work! :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:
