A friend of mine came round last night for a stitchy session and mentioned that a local church was advertising for someone to design a cross stitch kit that they could sell.
The church is raising money to repair its tower, as they need to match a grant quite soon.
I'm assuming that seeing as it's for fundraising it won't be a paid thing, but I wondered if 1) anyone was interested? and 2) as a fundraising idea was it a good one?
I'm sure that counting up thread/fabric/packaging etc most kits don't make a huge profit, I suspect charts would make more money as you only have to produce once and then print/email the file..
If anyone is interested then let me know and I'll try and get some contact details out of my friend.

I had a few ideas if anyone can help. Flowers can be very simple patterns. Or maybe teddy bears. Or even flags. And since it is a church function you can make simple cross cross-stitch on book marks.

Bookmarks would be a good idea - great for marking pages in hymn books and Bibles, and small and quick enough for less-experienced stitchers to do as well as us addicts!

Re: Designing a cross stitch kit for fundraising
If you're looking for a slightly bigger kit, feel free to use the "Church at Dusk" design I did for our minister -- I think it's in the "Shared Charts" thread. *goes off to look*
Yes, it's on the second page; originally designed to go on Jobelan in the shade Wood Violet, but any darkish evening sky colour would do.

Many thanks, I'll pass on the suggestions and try and get some more details.
Mabel - very generous of you, thanks! Please could you post a link to the thread as I can't seem to find it?

Silly me! Just found it! It's a very nice chart!
Re: Designing a cross stitch kit for fundraising
What about taking a photo of the church and`putting it through a chart programme. and then offering it as a chart only or a kit.

Another thought would be card kits/patterns. You could have designs for different celebrations/sacraments in the church along with holidays.
