Found out about this site the other day. It may have been on before and I'm the last one to know
but thought it was really good.

I had come across this before, but I think they may have updated it since then. It certainly is an excellent site. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks Genevieve.
I don't know if this one it's on the board, but there are some great videos

I always use the french knot video, cause I always forget how to make it

Genevieve,
You are my french knot gaurdian angel!!!
This is the first time I've ever seen a french knot done, I don't know what on earth I was doing wrong, cos I practised sitting in front of computer and I can do it!!!!! Hooray!! Finally!!
I think there is something in my brain that does not compute illustrations, I can crochet, but only because I SAW my mum doing it, also I can sew just about anything but even a "simple" pattern can reduce me to tears, especially if "hormonal"
. I'm better off working it out in my head or watching it being done, so I can't tell you how happy I am to have finally grasped the holy grail of cross stitch!
Ok, slight exaggeration, but I am very pleased!!

I'm just the same as you Ekidna - I too have to SEE something being done before I can grasp it properly. My DH had to show me how to do French Knots - many times
- before I got the idea. I'm one of those people who, when navigating, have to turn the map upside down. It must be something in the brain wiring.

Me too!! DH laughs at me, but I get thoroughly confused unless I turn the map in the direction we facing!!
Glad it's not just me!

Yes, that's the same for me with maps. But wasn't a very good navigator anyway - we only did one or two car trials we with navigating - I wonder why!!??
But I do seem to be able to work out how to do stitches from charts.
