Yes, Susan, that is my idea too, to wait a bit, (never know, santa may bring me a nice one) and get a lil more expensive one that will last a lifetime, or near abouts!

Hahahaha, Wendy, must just the yorkshire folk/men, mine is actually in batley, im from dewsbury, thats the closest one. I work in Hudds, and was going to check out a shop there, but most likely will the be the one your daughter went to, cant win can i? Will have to go further afield (out of yorkshire!) to buy from a shop.....

There is a John Lewis in Leeds i think. Will have to go and have a browse there :D

A real bargain! I was very excited, and got a machine I wanted for a price i wanted! No, cant wait to get started. Im a complete beginner, and dont even know how to turn it on! My mum is coming round at the weekend so we can have a play with it and she can give me a few lessons on it. Bought some cheap fabric from Skopos, and will just have a play about. My first project - a peg bag! LOL! Gotta start somewhere!

That seems a super machine at a super price. I'm thrilled for you and hope you get on really well with it. Will be watching to see your peg bag.

Just read the manual first
Practice threading and winding spools. Make sure you can fit the spool in the right way round!
Don't be afraid to play with stitch lengths and the variations of stitch patterns. :D

Keep a piece of spare fabric handy to test the tension BEFORE you start to stitch on your project! Each fabric type may give different results so use a scrap to test.

Practice button holes if you are planning to be ambitious with your projects.
Even peg bags can have button holes if you so wish!!  :D

Above all ENJOY!! and Have Fun!!

Hope that helps! :D

Sounds like a good bargain. Enjoy it and your new horizons. I have divided my daily time. First thing in the morning I come on computer and spend several hours, then I go into my quilting. Once the evening meal is cleared away I cross stitch. Roughly 11 pm I set that aside and read until I am ready to sleep. Have my seven to eight hours and then start the same cycle again. This way I manage to accomplish something in all.
