Nice work Lisa! :applesauce:
I managed to find photos of my very early work and scan them, apologies for the quality but this was before digital cameras
I sadly didnt take photos of my competition pieces and comission work after finishing my second of the three Sugarcraft City and Guilds, I think I was just too busy at the time to be honest and making sure the cakes were perfect photos were the last thing on my mind.
Still it gives you an idea of what I started out like...... Novelty cakes were always going to be the path I took I think :thinks:

My Cakes - Most of them were all completely edible, I would rather make sugar ribbons than add a ribbon, especially for childrens cakes. Please read the descriptions if you get a chance. * Warning there are a couple of adult naughty cakes!

Your cake looks lovely, Lisa - I would have left out the peel too (don't like that) and put extra raisins and sultanas. I can't wait to see it iced. Hope you're going to invite us all round for a slice! Yummy!

next week we are doing the ribbon, i have dyed a few pieces of icing various shades of blue as we are going to do some cut outs, so it looks as though it is patterned paper on it :D

wow that's great! :applesauce:

How did you get the icing so smooth? I ice our christmas cake, which is round, using rolled icing and as it falls down the sides and I try to smooth it out it looks nowhere near as good! It ends up looking a bit lumpy

not sure about round, as this is a square. but we did the corners first, then this sides, used the palm of my hand to quickly rub all the stretch marks, and they vanished, then used a cake smoother and all the creases went bye byes :D
