Re: Mitten swap

Post by Murmured »

Finally got mine done. I had a few disasters with the finishing. I was going to stitch the mirror of the back stitch outline on a piece of felt to back it with, and I had a piece of linen pinned to it, so I could tell where to stitch. I was planning on then whip stitching the two pieces together, like a biscornu. But it didn't work out so well, the needle would shift between the felt and the linen, and the stitches looked wonky, so I ripped them out and decided to just do the same thing on the linen. So I got it all done and started doing the whip stitches to join the two halves of the mitten. But because it's such an unusual shape, it wasn't working so well, so I ripped it all out again. But I had cut around the mitten only 5 threads or so away from the stitching, and it was dangerously close to unravelling, so after throwing something of a hissy fit, I glued it all together, and it worked out fine.

It looks lovely. It's the same pattern that I have done but looks so different with the different colour. :applesauce: :applesauce:

Hey all, I am moving house next wed ish and tomorrow will be the last day I have access to the net. I have phoned BT this morning to change our account over to the new house but the line wont be active until the 17th so I won't have any net until then at the earliest. I'm really sorry for who ever gets paired up with me on the mitten swap but I do hope you understand :(

No worries Kins we understand and it should be fine with any one to wait just a bit for your package. We are very relaxed around here.

Good, Wendy, I was just going to ask about that... Have we all finished or are we still waiting for someone?

Thanks, Wendy! So, just to clear things up, I do send my address to Mauveme, and I will receive her mitten, and Murmured sends her address to me, and I send my mitten to her. Is that right?

Have you contacted Bert? Should we perhaps ask what she thinks? Shall I try to PM her? Or has anyone talked to her recently? I see that she hasn't been on the foru for almost a month now. I hope she is all right.

I was going to ask about Bert also. I have not heard from her for a long time. It might be a good idea to send her a pm and see if she is going to reply and if not then take her off of the list.
