First Blackwork

Post by minij »

I have a blackwork chart of a butterfly from a magazine so decided to give it a try. I have made it into a card for my Mum for mothers day. The chart did the complete butterfly in one colour but I wasn't keen on the body when I stitched it in blue so changed it to black. The blue thread is Carries creation, electric blue, it's also the first time I have used these threads. It was quick to do and made a change and I do like the lacy look but I think I generally prefer cross stitch.

Your butterfly is beautiful - so delicate-looking. I'm trying my hand at some simple blackwork for a needle case - looks like fun to do. :)

I've still not got round to trying blackwork yet, but I love the look of it.

Lovely. The different fillings really add to the illusion of 3 dimensions. :applesauce:

That is so lovely and I am sure your mom will love it. I have done a couple of blackworks and they come out wonderful but like you have said I think I prefer the cross stitch. :P
