Sarah's Mother's Day Bookmark FINISHED!

Post by Sarah Gixxer »

This isn't much of an SAL really as it's a very little project, but I thought I would start a thread for it anyway.

Any of you who bought the most recent issue of Cross Stitcher will know this little kit came free with the magazine. My Mum (and I as well) both loved the book and the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha" and I thought this would make a nice bookmark for my Mum for Mother's Day if I stitched it and mounted on some pretty card.

I got quite a bit done at work over the last couple of weeks and thought I would finish it over the next few days in time for next weekend. Here's what I've done so far...

Thanks everyone - I'll try and get another picture on here tonight. I'm working on the sleeve of the geisha's dress at the moment (the pic is head and shoulders) - part of the sleeve is in a couple of shades of red and then there is some blackwork to do which is working up nice and quick! After that there are a couple of flowery bits on her shoulder and she has some dangly things in her hair - that's all there is to do.

I managed to get some of this done at work today - no chance of doing this again after tomorrow. I can't sit sewing at the new job. Yes, I know, Steffers, my wings have been well and truly clipped!

Here's an update. The blackwork sleeve is as wide as the bookmark goes. There's just her hair and hair decorations to finish and the shoulder of the dress. I'll try and do some more tomorrow.
