That does look a bit daunting, but it will be such a wonderful pair once they're completed, I really love this idea.

It really is beautiful, it is boring doing the same colour sometimes, but the effect is stunning

I'm nearly across the top..

Image

and i've got a Q, i'll put it in here for ease. Tapestry canvas, i made a pattern years ago for a cushion cover, and i planned on using DMC's soft cotton (the matt stuff instead of the wool), my problem is i haven't the first idea about which type of canvas to use, or what gauge, with this thread (which i think is quite thick? i saw it once in a shop and thought i'd like to use it sometime. The only local shop we've got here now doesn't sell it so i'll have to get it online.) Are the '10' '14' '18' numbers the stitches-inches count the same as with fabric, and which would be better - single or double thread canvas? I did the pattern to work out as 20 1/2" square.
Help :thinks: tapesry isn't my 'thing' so i'm a bit thick-like with this stuff.

You're getting on well with this!

Haven't ever used canvas so can't help there, but am slightly concerned whether soft cotton is strong/durable enough for it?

Hi M, aye i'd thought of that, and looked it up on DMC's site, and it says
'It is ideal for wall tapestries, and especially suited to decorative tapestry such as chairs etc.
For cushion covers which undergo more wear and tear, it is better to use petit-point.'
I was going to do it half cross-stitches or a herring bone type, ^ like that. It's a geometric design so should work out, its just this gauge 'n' double/single thread lark i can't figure.

The pattern is working up so fast I have a couple books of silhouettes and would really like to stitch a few up but I currently have so many other things to finish first.

This is looking great. :applesauce:

Chairs don't get wear and tear  ? Ours certainly do :-).

Glad you looked into it, I was just worried because the feel of the thread is quite soft, and some cushions see a lot of action -- is this one going to be purely decorative then?

Ha haha, M thats so true! My dining chairs are wooden seats, and they're staying that way, its a bit of an insult to 'sit' on your hard work innit :D Yep this one o' mine is to be a 'just for show' one. Years ago i spent 3 years doing a wall hanging, 6' x 4', and as soon as we hung it on the wall.....our 3 cats, who were little iddy biddy kittens at the time, used it as a climbing frame. Ruined. I'd fallen out with it by the time i finished it anyways so i wasn't too bothered. The canvas warped and skewed dreadfully and it looked awful. At least the cats had some joy out of it :)
