Charmagne's - a Toucan & a Butterfly

Post by charmagne_capalad »

Here are the first projects that I've chosen for 2009....

"An Awesome Toucan"....it's a photo converted into a xstitch pattern...size is 200w x 150h....and has 23 colors....

Image

"Butterfly Whisper" by Sunset...size is 140w x 140h...and has 30 colors...

Image

I plan on starting them before the festivities set in....hope I can make some time and I promise to post a pic as soon as I can... :)

What lovely designs - especially love the toucan and the wonderful bright colours.

Can't wait for you to get started. Do you know which one you are going to start first?

I've started on them at the same time

This is what I've done so far with the Toucan...It's easier to stitch as it has big blocks of the same color....the background has shades of green and I thought of starting on the toucan's head and then stitch the rest of the background to finish the 1st page of the chart.... :)

And this is what I've started so far with the Butterfly....I decided to start stitching in the middle of the design to get a glimpse of the butterfly  ....this one has lots of blended colors making stitching progress a little slow...but I'm enjoying it :)

These both look great especially the toucan! What fabric are you using, the stitches look a lot smaller than the butterfly one?
I'll look forward to seeing these grow!

Thanks Agi & Louise! I'm hoping to stitch some more before Christmas Eve and Christmas day as the whole family will be too busy doing a lot of things. :D

I'm using off-white Aida 14ct. fabric for both and 2 strands of floss. Some of the stitches in the butterly requires 3 strands for half stitch with blended colors and some only requires 1 strand. The toucan's much easier since it's all 2 strands of one color and no backstitch is required.

They both look great and it is fun to see how you stitch each one different, to keep the excitement of stitching going. Both have beautiful colors. :applesauce:

Wonderful start on both Charmagne!
:applesauce:
These are different enough to keep your interest level in both high ... I just think you might have trouble wanting to do both at the same time where you're unable to decide which to pick up! @rotfl:

You'll have to have a strict rota system. lol
