Scented DMC kit WIP(coffee_freak)

Ok ladies..and gents.
I have recieved the kit in the mail today..so I will start it..

First impressions..the scent is VERY mild. Like I actually had to hold it right over my nostrils and take a BIG sniff..lol

and the scent...well..didn't really smell of caramel....kinda..stinky..but maybe once it airs out some

The cross stitch looks cute. Maybe they will get the hang of it over time and the smells will get stronger.

This looks like a fun little project; maybe the thread is just a bit stinky from being trapped in the packaging and will come into its own when it gets some oxygen

Maybe you need to stitch with the thread to make the scent come out more??

well i left the floss out of the wrapper over night..it smells more sweet..not as..yucky..lol

and more like caramel.
I should be able to start stitching with this today.
Been trying to finish up the Christmas freebie of Michael Powell..
almost done with that..the balls and start and backstitching left..
so I should be able to start on it tonight.

Make sure you're not hungry when you stitch. If you are I'd recommend chewing on a piece of gum instead of the thread.

mmmmm caramel! Oh this looks fun! I hadn't heard about the scented floss until recently. Makes me wonder if the scent still sticks around after you are all done!

This does sound interesting...does the thread seem to feel thicker or thinner? Does it pull through the fabric the same or does it move differently? Does it twist more???

ok this another thing I don't care for..but to some it may not matter.
Normally in kits, next to the number it gives you a description like very light brown, brown, dark brown..etc

well not this kit.
If you weren't familiar w/ the DMC line..you'd have to hold the thread next to the little square and hope you can match it up..lol

on a plus note..I did, as you can see in the photo..I did wind each color on a plastic bobbin.. a pleasent suprise..when I opened my box to start stitching, i got hit with a lovely mild smell of toffee /caramel!

Hmm, from the chart it looks like only the 977 is the scented one...
As for trying to match up the colours.... well I'm glad I don't do kits anymore!! You'd just have to guess from the number of strands there were I suppose.
Looking forward to seeing it stitched!
