Busy_B's Holy Night FINISHED & FRAMED

Post by Busy_B »

Okay, I've determined that I have completely lost my mind! I bought this Dimensions Gold Petites kit a few months ago with the thought of doing it for a Christmas gift but not sure for who. Well, that was before the lighthouse for MIL and the tiger one that DH is working on for his sister (that probably won't get finished unless I help) were put on my to do list. Not to mention the eagle that I am frantically trying to finish. Since I need a project I can work on when DH is home since he'll be working on the tiger, I figured I get this one out to see if I can get it done as a possible gift for our daugher's godparents.

Here's the kit:

Here's where I am after about an hour of stitching last night--it's the head/start of neck of the cow on left side.

That's a beautiful project, and such a seasonal subject to be working on! Have you worked on dark fabric before? It looks like quite a challenging design!

I've done a nativity scene pattern for my in-laws that was on navy blue 14 ct aida. This is the first time I'm working on black. It's not bad right now. I'm just trying to get used to my lighting again since we put up our Christmas decorations this weekend. We had to move my lamp from the recliner to behind the couch so I only have one light to stitch with instead of 2. :? Maybe I need to turn on the Christmas tree lights to make it a little brighter? :thinks:

I guess I forgot to add that it is on black 18 ct aida and will be 7"x5" when I'm done.

That's a lovely project - although it will certainly be a challenge to finish it in the time you have  We'll look forward to lots of updates.

This is a beautiful pattern but 18 ct black is a challenge and the better the light the better it will be. Good luck finishing in time for a gift.

I just love things stitched on black fabric. The colors always look so vibrant! I love this design too. Luckily it's not too terribly huge but hopefully you will have enough stitching time to finish it before christmas! :D

Yes, you are mad! Nice project, and small - so you MAY get it done! But you'll have to work non-stop if you have to complete your other projects for christmas as well! Best of luck! :toast:

Here's the update on this one. There's more done than what there would have been since DH was home sick Monday, and this was the only project I could work on.
