Cards For Charity Round 2

Post by Rose »

I have removed the Sticky from the original Cards for Charity Thread as they have been delivered.
minij Posted: Hi All
I have just found this thread, are we starting to stitch cards for another charity, if so although I only joined during the week I would be willing to be a host if no one else volunteers but I don't want to jump in if you are all waiting to be hosts.
The charity I had in mind is LOROS it is a hospice in leicestershire if that would be OK.
This was the last post in the other thread.

I personally think if Minij wants to host the next round then that is fine with me. I would suggest that maybe you hold off until the New Year.

That's okay with me I think it's a good idea to wait till the new year.

Thanks for the nudge Susan :)

Right folks now we are well into January I know you are all really busy with cows and celebration samplers plus loads of other stuff but if anyone does want to do cards for charity I am still willing to be the host if you are happy with this. I am not sure how long to give for the cards but there is no rush or pressure, how about March time :?:

The charity I mentioned LOROS is a local hospice.

Perhaps you can get back to me thanks

I'd like to join in again too. If anyone would like me to make their designs up into cards again, I'd be delighted to do it. I'll print the details on the back of the card, and as before will add an envelope and cello bag with it. I am limited to the size of the cards I have. The apertures are:

Circular aperture: 72cm diameter
Square aperture: 76 x 76cm

Your design would need to fit into this area, although your fabric needs to be at least 1cm larger all round so that I can stick the fabric inside the card!

Are we going to have a theme?

I am in, too.

I am not sure about the theme. Perhaps it depends on who we want to give it to? For example if it's a children's charity, that calls for different patterns than a hospice. If it's a shop, like last time, anything would be OK, I think. Flowers, cartoonish things, humour, celebration - whatever. Minij, have you got any idea about the recipient yet?

I thought I had replied but seem to have lost it so sorry if it is in another thread somewhere

Thanks Susan for the offer of doing the cards for anyone who would like you to. Can I ask where you buy the cellophene bags from as I think I will buy some

Loros is a hospice for adults and the cards will be sold in one of there shops or at a fund raising function like coffee mornings etc.

I personally think we don't need a theme as it will give people more flexibility on design and size, as people will buy cards for all occasions also some for children, men etc.

Is everone happy with this? perhaps you can let me know thanks

I buy all my card and cello bags from PDA Card and Craft. The sizes can be a bit confusing for the bags. If you want them for A6 cards (ie A5 folded), the right size is Cello1. They also do the three panel cards which are great for cross stitch. You can add apertures to these cards as long as you buy at least 25 cards.

Thanks for the link Susan

As I havn't done this before I am right in thinking that those who would like Susan to make them up will send straight to her first and the people who are sending to me will pm me for my address when they are ready to send them to me Is that OK? :?

Yes, anyone who wants me to make them up, just PM me for my address when you've got them ready. Please make sure your pattern will fit the apertures okay! You can check how many stitches will fit for your fabric using the Stitch Calculator here.

I would also like to join in the fun and also the help this charity. March gives us all plenty of time and also to leave the theme open gives everyone lots of room to wiggle out interesting designs.

I am going to add this as a sticky until it is finished so that we don't have to search so far to add to the postings.
