Thanks everyone for your comments, i've managed to get quite a bit done the past couple of days....we've got The Gasmen working down our street, ergo stuck-in-house. They're replacing the main supply pipes, it looks like those giant dinosaur earthworms from that Tremors movie have been out there  Big Holes in everyones garden (i got a 2nd hole in mine yesterday :( they couldn't find the pipe that comes into the house, so they just dug a bit here..dug a bit there..eventually found it under the path. Now we've got a drawbridge & moat right in front of the door)
Anyway, pictures coming up, *skips over to photobucket..*

what a mess..but my house is done, yip. No More JCB diggers in my garden, they've made a bit of a mess of the cat's hidey hole out there - he's not a happybun - that'll be the job for the weekend, putting it to rights for him. There IS actually a chappy down that hole in my pic up there, it's over 6' deep!

Image

this is how far i got on Monday..

Image

..and yesterday. It's got some of all 12 of the needlepaints on now, they're stranded like DMC M, but they're big skeins with no tabs on so could easily get all knotted up. (and they're a bit dear, autumn has the same shades on, so i'm hoping they'll be enough to do both pics.)
The fabric's from http://www.sewandso.co.uk" target="_blank" target="_blank, sugar maple hand-dyed stuff. Sugar maple's own site isn't working at the mo for some reason.

He's down another hole now, on the roadside, and the footpath is shut, we have to walk down the road :? They're being quick enough to dig but not very quick to fill in again so lord knows how long we'll be a bombsite, they're being held up by the folks who are out during the day, they have to get in our houses to switch the gas supply off and hook us up to the new pipe. And it stinks of gas out there!!
I'm off to do battle with the big border on summer, make the most of the sunnyshine we're having today... :)

Blimey, what a mess! The gasmen were digging up my street a couple of months ago too, although they didn't dig holes deep enough to get lost in. Had to come in my garden to reconnect my metre and nearly jumped over the fence in fright when the dog came out - he's huge and noisy and looks like a Hound of the Baskervilles

Summer is looking gorgeous, you've got loads done. Keep it up!

i daren't take a photo while the chappys are bobbing about, the street is a sight to behold! its a sea of pink fencing, haha. I'll try and get one later when then pack up for the day. I don't know why they've bothered leaving little gaps in between the holes, it would've been easier to just dig the whole length up and put more drawbridges in to the houses on the front.

Yeah the gas men are doing the same to my mum's house in Durham, apparently they're going to cut a channel up their driveway... then tarmac it back over for them, hmm!

I am so glad you started with her face this time. I hate seeing all these lovely patterns with no heads they look so sad with out a face. At least they are sad to me. :(

Wow what a mess they have made. My kids would have been down the hole right along with the gasmen if it had happened here. They used to love to dig holes and hide in them.

No they're not good looking B, and it gets even better. One of em knocked on my door yesterday afty, could i move my car so their big truck can get in, sure no probs. Off i toddled down to the street, sure enough big truck parked up my car's R's, so i moved it further up the street. As i headed back down our cul-de-sac i noticed said monster truck was still in the same place, and one of the fl*ming workmen was parking HIS car in my spot!! *&"^**#!%**!!
Then when we went to pick my OH up from work we spotted they've dug a hole in the main path right across someones garden path, no drawbridge thing across it! and if i remember rightly its a house with a babby in a pram.
Yep, i thought i'd have a change and go up a bit then down R, the lil border on the left is dead easy to do, but the bigger one on the right is slooow going, so i didn't get much done yesterday.

i had to stop mid stitch last night to dash off to pick OH up..

Image

..and the state of 'round our end'..

Image

ImageLook what they've done to this garden! They're s'posed to be putting it all to rights eventually, whats the betting it snows before they dooo..... The holes with pink fencing round disappear into the distance up-street (we're at the other end), and there's key piles of rubble and sh*t piled up here 'n' there too.
Aargh, Sarah can pinpoint me now! *runs awaaay* hehehehe
