I've been naughty...

I should have been working on the nameplate, but there were so many biscornus appearing on the forum, and they all looked so great that I did some work on that. I've started the back, in Madeira silks. The bits surrounding the gaps where the leaves are going to be in the second picture are alternating white and very pale pink, which unfortunately doesn't show up very well :-(

It DOES show, though, and I suspect it will show more clearly when the leaves are stitched. :D

I see the 2 different colors and they look great as Fljotsdale said when you get the green in there it will really show them off. :applesauce:

Re: Mabel's first biscornu

Both sides have been finished! (I've even done the backstitch line around one of them. Below I'll post pictures of both of them, photographed in sunlight this time :-), but first a question:

I'm doing the backstitching in black (making a rod for my own back, I know, but I thought it would look better), but what shall I do for the whipstitching? I've thought of two alternatives -- one is to do the whipstitching in black as well, which would make the seam invisible, the other is to use a very deep rose, which is a colour the two sides have in common, and make a contrasting seam.

The latter would look quite startling and emphasise the shape of the biscornu, but the former would perhaps "interfere" less with the two designs -- there's quite a lot of colour there already.

Also, the button. I can't really use one, as it would obscure the centre of the design, but I would like to have some sort of dimple in the middle, so I've been thinking of using black seed beads to "anchor" the dimple.

Any ideas or opinions are welcome!

And nor for the pictures:

I would definitely use the deep rose colour for whipstitching, with a biscornu you do want to emphasize the shape. I have also used just one little bead in the middle, it looked great.

I love the colors and the boldness of this one. With such pold colors maybe it would be best to use the contrasting colors to finish the effect.
