Mabel's first biscornu

Post by Mabel Figworthy »

After a hard day's translating :-) I needed a bit of relaxing stitching, and I've decided to start my very first biscornu -- two "stained glass" rose designs done in Eterna silks on 18ct black aida. I haven't got much to show yet, but here's the beginning:

Oh, oh... very promising :)
I am sure this will turn out as beautiful as all your projects. Can't wait for more.

(Be careful of your back, though - all day translation doesn't do good to your back!!!!)

I love the way colors always pop out when you stitch on black fabric. Can't wait to see the finished product! :D

Pretty. :D It will look delightful when completed.

Biscornu - surely that means 'two horns'? - are pretty, decorative little items, but I have to admit that I have never felt the least urge to make one myself! :rose:

Wow - fabulous colours against the black, sits on the bench sipping hot chocolate and awaiting updates with the others :D

Just wondering if I'm the only person who's intrigued to know just how "bountiful" Mabel's stash collection is .................... all these mentions of different threads and fabrics

 I like collecting different things to try out, and then find that I like most of them, so collect a few more... and so on :-). I don't do handbags or shoes, my wardrobe is mostly Maison Oxfam or made by my mother, and our holidays and occasional nights out tend to be fairly modest, so this is my vice :-).

Not a lot of progress here as I decided to do some work on my mother's shawl, but here's what it looks like at the moment -- I had to frog a bit as the green I originally chose turned out to be too dark, but this stands out nicely I think.
