Busy_B: Beacon @ Daybreak

Post by Busy_B »

Well, here's another one to work on for Christmas. DH and I were talking about how we wanted to work our budget for Christmas this year. I have always wanted to do a lighthouse xs for my MIL, but knew they didn't have much in the way of wall space. Now with them putting on the addition, I figured they'd have some room. I hope to give her the chance to choose one of my Thomas Kinkade patterns that she'd like me to do for her, but there are other things on my to do list first. Anyway, here is what it will look like when completed: http://www.dimensions-crafts.com/produc ... oduct=2930" target="_blank" target="_blank

Here's my progress after about four and a half hours spread between last night and this morning:

Forgot to add: it's 5"x7" on ivory 18 ct so hopefully it won't take too long.

I wish it was only half an hour's work! It was nice to get it cheap, though! Our local Joann's had it for $10.99 and I had a 50% off coupon so I got it for less than $6!!  Of course, I showed DH a kit I almost bought the day before that was 50% off plus I could use another 50% off coupon on it, but I talked myself out of it. Well, DH loved it, so we bought the dimensions gold Christmas Cove kit for around $9 when it was originally $33.99! I think my stash is quickly surpassing my life expectancy!

That is a great start. One of my sisters love Lighthouses, I may have to make one for her one day. :)

Yes, I have seen that one. The kit has been in my stash for a couple of years. Other projects have just snuck in before it. There are A LOT of french knots on it. I have a feeling that if/when I give my MIL a choice, she'll pick that one. I'll probably end up stitching it twice--one for her and one for me.

Well, here's the update for this week. I worked on it for maybe a total of 3 hours during the week spread out over a few days (mainly when DH was on his way home so I had to put eagle away) and probably 5 hours or so Sunday.

edited: sorry, I thought the colors were better in this picture. :x The stitches off to the left are a yellow/green mix.
