The Kiss by Gustav Klimt - The mother of all WIPs!

Post by MrXStitch »

This is the first piece of any significant size that I did and it has been going on for about three and a half years.

Image

I've had times of great enjoyment with it, and times of great boredom. It measures about fifteen inches square and has about seventy colours.

Image

When I got the face to a point where you could tell it was a face, I was dead chuffed.
And with all that yellow going on, it was nice to stitch the reds and greens of the flowers.

Image

When it's done, it is getting framed and taking pride of place in my lounge, that's for sure!

Oh, this is going to be wondeful, it certainly deserves a place of pride!

I love Klimt, and basically I like art of the turn of century, secession and art deco and all that. But unfortunately my husband doesn't, so I will definitely not use anything like this as decoration. Though I am tempted to try and find a small pattern made from one of Klimt's pictures, just for myself. Haven't decided yet.

Wow, what an undertaking! But it's going to look absolutely stunning when it's done -- I'm looking forward to seeing it grow and develop further.

Thanks for posting this! I love Klimt and have always wanted to see what they would look like when stitched... Are you using any metallics?

They do all kinds of fine art patterns. It's great stuff, but you have to be prepared to spend a long time doing them..! :D

And I love this, it reminds me of R.E.M.s video of 'Losing My Religion':
