Yeah this is a tad on the big side..about 15,000 stitches but it's moving along really fast because it's mostly the same colors. I wanted it to look nice framed and so I opted to go for a bit bigger pattern. :D

It is growing very fast :applesauce: the coverage is excellent, I am tempted to try more strands on my next project :thinks:

3 strands works perfect on 16ct and 18ct. I had started a project for my brother on 18ct and got about 500 stitches in on 2 strands and hated the coverage. I ended up starting completely over with 3 strands and so now that's what I use for projects like this. :D

I'd never have thought of using three strands on 18ct -- depending on the effect I want it's either 1 or 2 strands usually, and even on 28ct (which is effectively 14ct) I tend to use 2 strands unless I'm stitching white on dark or very dark on light (I used three strands of white with a strand of blending filament to get good coverage on the royal blue fabric I used for the needlecase). I'll have to try this some time!

Okay time for a new update. I really wanted to finish the Y but I think I will get it done this weekend. We're going to South Dakota and that's a 6 hour drive one way so I can get a lot done then. :D

That really looks great. Good luck stitching in the car. It is a good time to do it but sometimes the roads do not cooperate. :) I know I was stitching this week-end on our trip and in some places I just had to stop as the bumps were making it hard to hit the proper hole.

Great progress! I'd recommend a cross stitch like that to any stitcher; we all need a pattern at some point that doesn't have all the hassle of colour changes
