AMEN. Finished at last. I've just finished the mistletoe ball that I'd been commissioned to do. The story is that a good friend loved the picture on a Christmas card he'd sent a couple years ago. He asked if it would be possible to make it into a cross stitch. I agreed without seeing it that you probably could. Stoopid mistake. Big one. I don't like the original picture but couldn't get out of making the pattern and doing the stitching. I'm not sure about copyright so am not posting the original card.

He was 70 on Tuesday and I was determined to give it to him as a special birthday present. So I framed the unfinished work for him to see, then kept it to finish it off. He wants to buy his own frame and have me frame it, so afraid the pic is of it unwashed and unironed. I'll do that when I go to frame it.

This is what I showed him using an old frame.

This was taken at night so isn't as clear but you can get the idea. 22 shades of cream and dull greens. Such fun.....NOT.

And now I have started on David again and quite enjoying him. He seems easier somehow after that mistletoe ball. I'll post a pic when there is enough to show.

Yesterday my DH bought me a tray table that is higher by about 10 inches than the table I've been using since I started. This means I can sit up comfortably to stitch instead of hunched over to see my pattern. I'm so grateful for such a caring man who supports my hobby and is interested in seeing my projects grow.

That was lovely of your husband. Mine likes to see what I am working on. He asks who is that for, what are you working on now? He may not realize I have more then one at a time going but he is interested in what I am doing. He also rols his eyes when he sees me frogging. He ask if I really need to pull it all out. Men

Aww, freelady, that is so helpful of him! But I agree Rose, sometimes they just don't get this wonderful hobby of ours :-) -- when I was picking some nice monochrome patterns to try my silks with, he wanted to know what they were going to be for... obviously they are not for anything in particular, just for enjoying stitching with those lovely silks :-)!

Yeah for DH! My husband has a small idea of what's going on since he does occassionally stitch and add to my to do list. Of course, that doesn't stop him from saying ribbit when I have to :ribbit: .

Aww, that's lovely of hubby! He deserves some chocolate for his thoughtfulness! :choc:

Mine makes me laugh, he really doesn't get it.
When I was getting the silk rayons he's like, but you've got all those cotton ones upstairs, why do you need more. can't you use them up first?
 (men!)
Then I asked him what he thought of a project I'm working on, 'Great' he says trying to look enthusiastic. I was somewhat :x to see him looking at the BACK of it!!!
I could go on ... but you get the picture!

He isn't washed or ironed yet, but he's done. After I posted a pic, I saw an area that wasn't right, so I frogged it and used the correct colour. This looks better from a distance because of all the shading. The fabric doesn't show through from a distance.
