Well - not sure how this has happened as I was very careful about counting but I now have to unpick EVERYTHING I have stitched below the writing - I know I counted but maybe I then started from the wrong place or something as I am about 10 stitches out ...ah well ...

Luckily it just involves 2 colours albeit a lot of them!! Anyway - I see it as a lesson learned. At least it's salvageable though I have not had much luck with this 'simple, easy to stitch' kit!!!

Oh dear, Flumpz, what a nuisance! Is there really no way in which you can "link it up"? Hope from now on it'll all go swimmingly!

Hello Everyone -
I haven't been around for a while I'm afraid and my stitching has been slow & infrequent - not really enjoying this one as much as I thought I would - maybe because it's mainly 1/2 stitches anyway - this is progress made so far -

apologies for the totally awful pics but I'm using my phone as my camera has been commandeered by my mother to take pictures of her new baby - Misu

And here they are -

This is such a beautiful pattern. The soft colors just compliment the poem so well. Sorry you are not enjoying the stitching. It makes it so hard to pick up the piece when you are not happy with the project.

You know - that's what's so wonderful about this forum ...you guys!!! So full of kind words & encouragement even for those of us who aren't 'regulars'!

Well here's the update - I was thinking about this project on & off yesterday trying to pinpoint the one thing that's made what should have been a fun & simple piece of work into a chore & what it boils down to is the chart. Now I am no fan of colour charts & after many years away from x-s this is only my 2nd project & my 1st colour chart! I was hoping I'd like them better this time around but this one is a nightmare even by colour chart standards! Let me give you an example - the colour dark green - the symbols are a solid blue square for 1/2 stitch & a solid black square for full stitch add to this a solid blue heart for yellow green - all small symbols all used next to each other for shading effect - THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME!!!!! ARGHHH!!!!!

Anyway - I dusted off my printer & have copied the chart so I can mark off on the chart itself instead of using plastic wallets - let's see how I go now!

My update turned into a rant! Sorry!!

BTW - Mum's kitten is called Misu - as in Tiramisu - he's a little imp and just what she needed to keep her occupied - beginning of November was the 1st anniversary of Dad passing away & we were worried all the progress Mum has made getting over it would be wiped out but 2 months ago along came Misu & he just fills up her life so she doesn't have too much time to brood - today would have been their 51st wedding anniversary - she misses Dad a lot - we all do.

I'm glad the kitty turned up so timely!

I hope photocopying th chart will help you get to grips with it -- it's absolute murder working from a chart you're not comfortable with, very frustrating, so good luck!

 Anniversary times can be rough.

I hope changing the way you're marking the pattern will help. I know that finding the root of my displeasure with something always helps me in the long run.

I'm sure you'll find it easier now you can mark the chart.

I'm glad your Mum has got her lovely kitty to help her through such a difficult time.

Thanks for your kind words - they are very much appreciated!

Well here's the latest pic & thank goodness I've managed to get my hands on my proper camera for 5 mins - my camera phone is cack!

I'm hoping the blue smudges wash out (part of my misadventures with marker pens & plastic wallets!)

Now I am working directly from a copy of the chart & marking off by highlighting what I'm going to do & then going over that in a different colour once complete (which is how I have always worked a black & white chart) I'm much happier with how I am getting on with it!! I'd have done more but I have a nasty cold making it difficult to want to do anything involving movement & focussing!
