Jewellery

Post by SusanF »

Over the past month or so, I've started making my own jewellery. I've dabbled in this a few times before, but never really got into it seriously (ie I didn't start buying stash :D :D :D :D ). It started this time when I bought a lariat necklace from a jewellery party and decided I'd like a few more in different colours - so I made these

Image

By this time I had got the bug and made some freshwater pearl necklaces

Then I found something I really enjoyed making - this necklace and bracelet set were crocheted!!

Image

The closeup below shows this better - it was great to make - very satisfying somehow!!

Finally, here's the latest necklace I've just finished. It's made using Kambala Jasper which is just such a lovely stone. It's very smooth and has wonderful black swirls patterened into the green beads. Much nicer in real life than in the photo.

Beautiful jewellery Susan and Charmagne :applesauce: My grandma is quite into beading and she's given me some bracelets before :D She got me into it once, but I've only made one or two. Those pieces are lovely, handmade items are always that much more special than buying ready made aren't they? :D

Wow! Your both really good at making jewellery! I love the pieces both of you have made. I've made a couple of pieces before but never really gotten into it. Keep on coming back to cross stitch. Think you may of just persuaded me to pick it up again for a little while. *wanders off to her craft cupboard to dig out her beads, wire and tools*

Great job both of you :applesauce: :applesauce:

I dabble in the jewelry too. I started making it because I couldn't find decent, hard to break necklaces for Taby. The only ones I could really find were cheap and made with regular or plastic string. I started making some for myself too. I haven't made any in a while but need to make some more for Taby to use as potty training bribes.

I've got to let you into a secret - these are extremely easy to do and look better than they should for the amount of effort you need to put into them :D :D :D .

If you can make a chain stitch with a crochet hook, you can do this!

I did some beaded knitting, you can see them somewhere here, but my problem is, I don't really like wearing them, so I don't bother making them either. :D

I really love these pieces I think handmade jewellery is so much prettier and individual than what you get in high street jewellery shops.
