Happy New Year.

Last year I recall finishing a few pieces (Fall Fairy, Vincent Motorcycle, Poppy Geese, Wild Flower Meadow Butterflies, Nori, Harvest Sampler, No Winter, Cow Parsley, TW Spring Fariy and the last piece I finished was TW Winter Fairy).

This year I hope to complete the final 2 fairies in the season set and if I am good add the other two TW designed.

Jo

P.S. others are work in progress: HAED Seasons, TW Peacock Tapestry, Rome, Bothy Threads Rome,

Hi Mabel  pleased you are following along.

TW Fairies: I completed Spring and Winter last year, a quick reminder of them:

And just before new year I started on the Autumn Fairy. Because of problems accessing the forum I posted progress on this piece over on my 2023 thread  so time to move it to its correct place:

Image

I had a bit of frustration when I found I was missing one of the thread colours but thankfully the suppliers on Fleabay post them very quick and it arrived 2 days later.

On TWs own website, when it was available, identified a number of errors on the charts but promised that the charts in the booklet had less errors. It claims that the symbols square with a diagonal line from bottom left to top right should be 3787 was missing from the list of colours but so far I have not found it on the chart.

Today my Autumn Fairy:

We have a few really cold days coming so it might be nice to stay in front of the nice warm log fire stitching :D .

Having finished the two leaves and the second wing I started work on the lower apple:

Image

With all the "almost the same colour" shades in the apple I found it difficult to identify the edge of the round border and the part of the apple I was counting into so I am putting the outlining on the circular border and I'll do the outer one while I am at it. You should be able to see the difference on the bottom left on the outer square border where I am still outlining and next will go up the left side.

They are beautiful.

I had done 3 of a set of season horses. I think they were TW.

I love all the different colors for the fairies and I am so impressed with how quickly you stitch them!

Thank you Roland and Kittyz,

I have kits for two out of the four carousel season horses. I think my friend gave them to me with the patterns for the last two as part of his mum's collection :D

It's been cold this week so a bit of stitching in front of the log fire is always a nice thing to do:

I nearly have the first apple (? not convinced, but artistic license :thinks: ) done. I must remember to start the backstitching, it can get rather tedious if that is all there is to go.

Sounds like a good idea, loads of backstitch right at the end is very dispiriting!

Another Apple and a few leaves:

I am now heading down to do her dress and the apple she is sitting on. I still am avoiding the backstitching but really I must get on with it

You'll thank yourself later if you get on with the backstitching!

Dratted back stitch does make such a difference in definition, doesn't it. Looking excellent!

I've had enough of all the confetti stitches/backstitching on her dress and have moved on to doing the border:

Image

I think I have the rhythm of stitching the border now so I can sequential stitch with the three colours. But the sun is out and there is lots of gardening that needs doing.

The backstitch really makes her skirt flow!

Sorry I thought I posted this yesterday before I scrolled the piece up but better late than never:

Image

Still heading round the border and am now going down the two sides.

In between I have been filling in some of the "holes" in her wings. So far I have found two colour pairings that had 2 or less stitches, buying four skeins of thread for 3 stitches

Ouch. I wonder how designers can think that one or two stitches of another colour could possibly make that much difference in a design where so much else is going on?
