2024 Stash & Grab Virtual Pub

Post by Serinde »

It's quiet around here this morning... But I see that Lexi had a grand time (again), and has gone to show the leopard how to stalk voles (non-violently, of course).

Lexi has decided that during the winter being an indoor cat is vastly preferable

We didn't manage to see out the old year last night, so could I have a glass of bubbly and some fireworks please?

Hot toddy please. I am trying to meet the deadline for a Stitch article while nursing what I hope is a cold, but what with sore throat, not much coughing, shiveriness and achy joints....

Argh. Good luck, Mabel. Sounds like what DH has just recovered from, although he had a bunged up head as well.

Your favourite space is available. Put your feet up and enjoy. Deadlines are always hard (but in publishing necessary, even if not always observed), but you will have a good and solid reputation for getting copy in on time, which never hurts when you are in business.

A good reputation is worth a lot - I was going to say "its weight in gold" but I'm not sure how much a reputation weighs :-)

One problem was that although I photographed my progress on this project it wasn't originally intended for mag publication, so there were steps which I didn't have in as much detail as was needed. Yesterday was spent stitching various elements on a doodle cloth and photographing them, then working them into the article. For one of them I went with a cropped close-up from a larger pic I'd originally taken, but I may do that one again; I like to make sure the quality is up to scratch!

Woohoo!

I saw the cross-in-a-circle outline on the order of service for early Communion while we were on a car rally based in Llandrindod Well, hence the name. It's an annual thing and we hope to do the rally again this year, in early April - I may take it with me and show it to the priest! (Who recognises us and calls us some of his regulars - once a year :D )

What a nice idea. And how on earth does he remember people who he sees only once a year?
Definitely show it, bet they'll be quite chuffed.

I agree! Perhaps you could set it into a pulpit fall for them (assuming you aren't terribly attached to it after all this angst)?

Hmm, I suppose I could... but I would be rather sad to see it go.

Well, don't worry about it then. Just an idea. You've suffered over this jewel, and you should be able to enjoy the result.

Sneaky thought..
Make up a kit and offer it to someone who may want to reproduce your stitching. That way you corrupt/convert someone else & keep your one.
Win-win.

Ha, well, it's definitely going to be a chart pack - I hadn't really thought about making it a kit. I suppose I could ask the priest whether he has any parishioners who enjoy embroidering vestments and so on, and then bring a kit next year!

It is Mothering Sunday here in the UK -- like Mother's Day in the US but with a longer tradition and less marketing. The S&G has been spruced up, and even if you are allergic to daffodils, you won't be here (of course). There are magical breakfasts of your choice, plus lunches and suppers. And a particularly lovely mid-afternoon teatime treat. Everyone is invited on the grounds that mother's feature in all our lives.
