What are you proud that you did in 2022?

Post by Roland »

It can be something big, or something small. Crafty or not.

But what are you proud of accomplishing in 2022?

(I will be back to post mine…I have to get dishes done right now.

The accomplishment I am most proud of is getting my health taken care of. Going in and speaking to the doctor, following through with tests, treatments, and therapy were difficult steps to take, but I did it.

As one Christmas programme (The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse) put it, "What is the bravest thing you ever said?" "Help."

I've not done an awful lot last year, especially in the second half, so I think I'd say I'm most proud of mostly managing to stay positive when my body is being a nuisance (and my mind isn't co-operating as well as I;d like either).

In terms of embroidery, I am proud of the four students who came to my goldwork course and of the wonderful work they produced, and their joy in it.

Getting through the year with a variety of family issues to manage and all of those turning out positively. And facing 2023 positively with the challenges that will be there.

Oh, this is a thought provoking topic.

I think as far as my “crafty” life, it’s that I didn’t give up on the temperature afghan I’m crocheting for my kids. After three (or is it four?) starts and pain in my poor arthritic wrists, I stuck with it. I’m looking forward to finishing it when I go back to Virginia in three weeks, but right now my wrists are enjoying a break. :-)

In my personal life, I think I’m proud of the way I’ve handled my kids moving away. I prepared myself for it months in advance and maybe that helped. (That said, I miss them like crazy, even though I’ve already visited them twice since they left in June.)

I’m also kinda proud that I was able to buy myself a new car. :-)

Jo, those are simply amazing. Love them.

As for what I'm proud of from 2022. I started thinking about this when I saw the thread last night, and I have to say the initial thought last night has stuck with me. I wish it hadn't, which is why I didn't post it yesterday.
Nothing. Too mentally tired to have done anything I'm proud of. There times that were nice, but proud of doing something? Sorry, no. For me 2022 was reactive and I feel I need to be actively doing something to be proud of it.

Hopefully this year will not be the same.

Regards,

Richard

Richard, after the year that you and your family have been through, I think getting through it all in one piece, with family in tact and able to face 2023 is something you can be proud of. The 3D images you created are one example of producing beautiful things. Sometimes just doing the things that we know are the right thing to do even when it is the last thing we want to do is the hardest and you never thought twice about it. I know people who would have thought more than twice about it and I also know people who would have run away from the challenges y'all faced.
I also hope that this year is filled with lots more positive experiences for you and your family and that you have the time to pursue more creative projects, but I do believe that sometimes just surviving and being a role model as to the right way to face hard times is something to be proud of.

I agree with this. For a lot of people, just getting through the year is something to be proud of. 2021 was like that for me.

I am so sorry, Roland, I hadn't intended to hijack this.

I must say thank you to all for your support. I am fully expecting parts of this coming year to be much better than 2022, so there is that to look forward to.

And maybe I can actually do something useful this year too.
