karen4bells 2022 update on Red Cardinals April 1

Post by karen4bells »

I have recently finished up Nora Corbett's Sagittarius and am getting ready to frame it. Here is what it looks like

Image
I really enjoyed stitching this one, and will keep it for myself, and likely stitch it again later for my sister who is also a Sagittarius

This is what I am currently working on, started it Friday and stitching it on Picture this Plus 36 count in Legacy. It is called Red Cardinals by Owl Forest
this is what it looks like now

And this is what the finished design looks like

And just because I love this flower, just have had it bloomed for the first time this morning!! Son and I planted it just about a year ago, it's called Blue Walking Iris ‘Regina’ (Neomarica caerulea)

Sagittarius is beautiful, as is your iris.

And you know how I feel about Red Cardinals. I’m trying so hard not to start it yet…or the other OwlForest designs I have waiting. I think I am addicted to them.

Sagittarius is stunning. And I love your new project. I love cardinals. I’ve had two that have been pecking on the window that leads to Rosey’s catio. There is a lot off shrubbery next to it, so I’m hoping that they are letting her know that a nest will be in the bushes and she’d better stay away. We’ve had nests there before so :x: .

I love the iris. It’s beautiful!

Lovely designs, and oh my goodness that iris! One day, when I have finally got the hang of silk shading, I would love to have a go at that....

Gosh, you have been busy and they are all such beautiful designs.

As ever your stitches are so beautifully neat and even.

Well Done.

Update on the Red Cardinals--this one is really a fun one to stitch!!

Image

I managed to get my taxes finished up without any real pain, took them to a tax service and they had it done more easily than I had expected. Thank goodness I had all of the necessary paperwork so that made it quite easy for them.  So yesterday, my younger son and I took a short trip to a fairly local nature park, and just relaxed!! Quite an enjoyable outing, and thank goodness not too hot!! Here are a few pics that I took there

And one last photo, from my back yard a picture of a couple of my orchids that are reblooming :)

Lovely stitching, and a lovely outing! And glad to hear the taxes weren't too onerous.

Lovely stitching! And lovely photos. Now is the time to enjoy nature walks before summer really hits. Your orchids are lovely. I have 2 orchid plants that I received as gifts. They are the only plants I have ever managed to not kill. (Brown thumb. Its really sad). One of the plants I've had for at least 6 years. It blooms at least twice a year. It last bloomed around Christmas and all 4 flowers are still with me.

You know how much I love the red cardinals. :-) OwlForest designs are just amazing and the only one I’ve stitched was really fun. I have several waiting patiently in the wings.

That's an alligator. Up north back in the day, we only really had mammals with sharp teeth (ok, the odd spider and snake). But alligators!

Hard to believe that alligators are fairly common "down south", depending on where you live. That was one of the things that surprised me moving when I moved to South Carolina. Nature parks usually have some. They also pop up on gold courses and one summer we had a fairly large one in the water retention pond next to our house. The pond is connected to a tidal creek which is connected to a large river. The gator would go back and forth between the pond and the creek. That was years ago. We also had otters but "development" chased most of them away over the years. I don't miss the alligator but would love to see the otters again. :(

It's the way that gators eye you speculatively as if thinking, "Back in my dinosaur days, I'd have had YOU for lunch. Hmmm...."
