Arianwen's christmas sampler marathon update 16.12.21

Post by Arianwen »

Well I am FINALLY ready to begin this marathon!

I am hoping to get 2 done for Christmas but we will see

I've prepared what I think is the 25 count fabric (neither piece was labelled  )

Image

just to give me a rough idea of spacing etc and make sure I'm happy with it. I think I am. I KNOW I've mis counted in places but lets closs over that for now  In my defence I was grappling with the whole piece of fabric and a cat. I've marked the middle and work out from there with the frames first. There will be 8 - 10 stitches in between the first and second and fourth and fifth panels, and 15 - 20 stitches gap between 2 and 3 and 3 and 4. I am planning to do some decorative stitching in the larger gap at least - suggestions on WHICH stitches to use are great! I really like the look of coral stitch if that helps!

I'm changing up the order too.

First box is going to be o christmas tree, second is silent night, angels we have heard is 3rd (and its the only one done in yellows) fourth is the holly and the ivy and finally is we wish you a merry christmas.

I'm going to load this onto a qsnap now and try and get a couple of frames done tonight - we will see

ok quick update - I've only worked on this for maybe 2 hours - darn real life getting in the way!

frame 1 of sampler 1 is done! :whoop: Image

I had forgotten how much I enjoy working on evenweaves and how quickly these stitch up. And I dislike waiting for a border to match up!

now to move the hoop (my snap clamps need to go through the dishwasher to tighten back up)

time for a quick update!

Its taken a little over a week but I have all 15 frames done! along with the stitching within each panel with metallic thread :whoop:

Image

I'm pleased by how quick theyve stitched up honestly. the two on the outside are on 25 ct lugana and the centre on 28. the slightly darker one is done in (mostly) kreinik #4 braid in 002, gold, high lustre. I have barely enough to finish so the others are done in Petite treasure braid pb03, which is a bit lighter and i really like the effect. I perhaps should have useed 2 strands on the 25 ct but I think its fine. I was worried that I was running very low on the ptb too so I ordered another card of it, and a spool of kreinik to be safe. I have about 4 inches to spare. An unnecessary purchase but betterthan waiting til I ran out I guess.

I cant make up my mind about decorative stitching. I've left a larger gap for the centrepiece on purpose and I think I might do a laced running stitch here, in reds and greens to look like garlands. Not sure yet though

Now its time for the fun part - the actual stitching!

:applesauce: :applesauce: Great progress. That is a lot to get done in a week and those aren't the easiest threads to stitch with, but it looks great!
And I still love your needle magnet. :kitty:

Thank you! I meant to add in my last post but I was trying to type around my cat and I forgot  It was a gift from my sister last christmas so I have no idea where it is from etc but it the perfect size for smaller projects like this!

I have each piece in a hoop frame so will make my way through each one doing 1 frame at a time I think!
