My first finish of the year.

This was a thank you gift to a guy who works for my husband. He was nice enough to send us PPE early in the pandemic when none was available where we live. So I made this for his daughter.

He sent me a video of her opening it and she actually hugged it saying she loved it.

I don’t post pictures and videos of other people’s kids.

I don't either (if I did you'd be swamped with photos of my great nephew and new great granddaughter), but so glad that you got to see the little girl with her new stocking. She is not going to be patiently waiting for Christmas this year!

That's a fabulous gift, and I'm so glad the little girl's reaction was exactly right.

I got Caleb’s stocking out together. Was quicker than usual, and my sewing machine behaved.

Both of these stockings are very good. I would be very interested in how you finish them. Edges, backing, batting material used etc. I have been tasked with the finishing of two church banners for the 375 th year.

Roland's stockings are always marvellous. I'm sure help will be offered (we're like that around here).

Also, there is a fab tutorial for making stockings here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11874. The pictures no longer show, unfortunately, but it will give you the idea.

Also, Vonna's finishing is always immaculate, and she has tutorials: https://tts-learntofinish.blogspot.com

I use a white or near white cotton to back the picture. For the back, I use a fuzzy material, like a Santa suit. Probably polyester….I really don’t know. And for the loop to hang I braid yarn.

I’m about to finish another stocking and want to deliver it within a few weeks. I’ll try to remember to take pictures as I go. My 8nstructions probably won’t be as good as the first link Serinde posted….but I’ll try.

Thanks for your two links Serinde.
I will look into them now.
I have finished a few of my own hanging tapestries but I am nervous about these two for obvious reasons. I have never went by the book or any book for that matter being self taught.

Oh, lots of us are self taught here on the Forum. What I've discovered over the years is that there are times when reinventing the wheel isn't necessary, and I consult an expert or a book (or both)! They've done all the hard work so you don't have to (well, quite as much anyway).

I made an attempt to show how I finish stockings here. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=32104
