Apparently some (maybe all?) rats are ticklish, and they have a sound they make analogous to laughter when being tickled.

Regards,

Richard
I don’t know about being ticklish, but they like to ride in vehicles like dogs. We used to put them in the boxcar of our train, and they would always stick their nose up, like a dog sticking their nose out the window. Fortunately our train no longer blew smoke out the stack.

The scary part is….we used that same box car to put popcorn in when the rats were not riding….and I don’t think anyone wash it.

...because someone has to win the Ignobel Prize for Science. This year's biology prize winner was given to
Susanne Schötz, Robert Eklund, and Joost van de Weijer, for analyzing variations in purring, chirping, chattering, trilling, tweedling, murmuring, meowing, moaning, squeaking, hissing, yowling, howling, growling, and other modes of cat–human communication.

Why not for rats too?

My favorite prizes, as much as I can understand the biology prize, are for physics ( experiments to learn why pedestrians do not constantly collide with other pedestrians.) followed by the Kinetics award ( conducting experiments to learn why pedestrians do sometimes collide with other pedestrians)
though the Peace Prize was a good example of male chauvinism being that it tested the hypothesis that humans evolved beards to protect themselves from punches to the face. Does that mean it's okay to punch women in the face because they don't have beards?

Saving that website right next to the Darwin Awards.

Oh no, women are all so lovely nobody could possibly want to hit them, so no need to protect their faces...

(See, I have listened to my wife and can find a spectacular way of changing the depth of hole I have dug for myself.
OK, I don't always fill it in, and sometimes make it so much deeper at a stroke. All without help. .)

Reminds me of a programme I watched the other day, in which a female character said to her companion "do you want to keep digging Donnie? I can still see the top of your head."

The look on that sad kitty is the one I get when it gets colder outside and Rosey wants the "door" to the catio open so she can go out. I call it the "why isn't the heat on in my catio look".
