Mabel's other stitching 2021
For copyright reasons I thought it would be better not to have pictures of my two most recent projects here, so a new, fresh start with a new fresh thread!
However, I will share with you this little rabbit, as he's a fairly generic bunny when cropped from his surroundings and I'm rather pleased with his tail

It's trimmed and fluffed-up Turkey rug stitch - one I can highly recommend and which you can do on counted fabric as well (can you imagine adding this to Santa's beard on a stocking, for example?)

Re: Mabel's other stitching 2021
Two new projects on the go, mostly as displacement activities (not the scientifically correct use of the term, I think, but you know what I mean) for not doing my Certificate homework! But one of them has a very good reason .
The first is my interpretation of a leaf designed by a fellow RSN student who said she'd be happy for me to play about with it; I'm using it for some relaxed stitching using House of Embroidery perles from my stash. I have no idea how each bit is going to be stitched yet.
The second, wel... We got news of a new baby this week, little Evelyn. Both the new parents and all three grandparents are church friends of ours (I actually taught the baby's mum in Sunday school ), so three copies.
She may have a different coloured romper suit in each, and I may add the name - haven't decided yet. But getting three done quickly means it's going to be mostly just outlines!

Your first little one is very interesting and I look forward to seeing its progress. I love the idea of the 3 new birth cards too. Altogether a very interesting set of stitching to keep a watch for.

Re: Mabel's other stitching 2021
Well, one is finished but I think it needs a few tweaks, one that I may actually change in this one and a couple which I'll change in the other two.
The eye is too dark, so I may take it out and redo it in a lighter brown. In the other two I will work the face outline in whipped backstitch instead of split stitch - it makes a cleaner line; and I may use a slightly darker pink for the face and hands.
As for the name, I'm thinking of actually writing it on the fabric in silver or gold gel pen.

What miracles a thread and a needle can do! It does look like a baby.

I have to quote Wendy because she is right. There is no other way of describing it.

Baby #2 - darker pink for the face and hands, lighter brown for the eye, no detailing in the hair, whipped backstitch for the face, romper suit in two shades of green with the darker one used at the tummy and the far sleeve, and some petite beads.
